Work on endurance. You need a lot of endurance to make it threw basic. NO HEAVY WEIGHT IF LIFTING. If I was you, I would not even lift weights. What is going to help you is to be able to do 50 correct push ups and sit ups in 1 minute and to be able to run 2 miles in 15 minutes.
Good Luck!

The physical side is push-ups, sit-ups, and a two mile run, last time I looked (some years ago, admittedly).
In addition to the push-ups, use your last three weeks to practice running -- your goal is two miles in seventeen minutes or so.
bent-leg Sit-ups, about twenty-five in two minutes.
The mental side is the real make-or-break, though. You have to convince yourself that the Drill Sergeant is right: You CAN do more than you believe you can.
Basic Combat training is just that -- Basic. Millions of ordinary Joes have gone through it without any major problems.
My Old Man's advice to me when I got on a bus for my Basic: "you can do it. You're in good shape, you are not a discipline problem, Basic is no big deal. I have confidence in you. No problems. However, if you can't make it, if you have to quit -- DON'T COME HOME!
------
To this day, I'm not sure if he was serious or not.
Good luck in all you do!

endurance is going to help the most the standard is set buy age but a good general idea of the pt test you must pass is 2 mile run under 15 min. push ups 40 per min, set ups 40 per min. Good luck
the time limits and scores change by age so check out the link and prepare your self to do more than the minimum

You're not training for the Olympics here. Just take it easy. It seems to me you're doing OK: hey, they're not looking for Supermen, just regular guys. Of course, endurance is good, especially if you're looking at Airborne school or Special Forces after Basic and AIT. Good luck,

Well I think that you should focus on endurance because who knows if you will be able to use weights in basic training. I have been told that they run ALOT in basic--so I would suggest to focus on running and still do some weights but not alot--keep doing push ups and sit ups too..... My friend said they do that ALOT too..... ask your recruitor what you should focus on....He/she will be able to inform you better. If not then their dorks...lol. Good luck!!!!

Definitely endurance. You'll get stronger once you get there, but it's more important to be able to keep up. Basic is brutal.
