Some people are aware of the dangers of spiritual football, and firmly believe that any reference to a God would show preference for a certain team (in America, the Christian God would obviously have the biggest team).
The government should have no 'spiritual' influence (or preference) after all, we ARE supposed to be a melting pot.
I see what you are saying, and I feel it has gotten a bit silly.
Check out when and why "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance. If your mind is open, you just might find it a bit disturbing.

What is wrong with our peers and God.? ....because they refuse to deal with reality......
1. Many more individuals are born than can possibly survive, thus there is competition for limited resources
2. Within this vast number there is variation, and because of this variation some of these individuals will have an advantage--however slight--over others
3. The ones who have the advantages are more competitive and thus they are more likely to obtain the limited resources
4. The ones who are succeeding in securing the limited resources are more likely to reproduce and thus pass onto their offspring the more competitive traits

BTW.....why does anyone pray?? Doesnt God already know everything and doesnt he control everything??
Does the person who prays the most get the most?? Is it a contest with God?? Does he keep score??
It occurs to me that praying is very selfish b/c God already knows it all and controls it all, so it makes no sense to me....unless of course God is just pure fiction....mmmmmm....

I think many American Christian make the mistake, like Islamic society does, that govt and religion should be one and the same thing. America, at least, was formed to counter that idea in the world and should continue to uphold the principles it was founded upon. America stands for the rights of all people, unlike some societies that tolerate no dissent.
Thank you.

"Are they trying to make a statement are they trying to all god fearing folk into non believers?"
No, we're trying to restore the American freedom of religion. Those who don't like it are more than welcome to move to a theocracy somewhere. I suggest Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia. Getting upset at the few remaining patriotic Americans just because your religion doesn't get center billing is not a very productive way to spend your time and efforts.

Theyre rational is simple. Being in a place of authority eg the state it is not appropriate for them to endorse one religion over another therefore they should make no such endorsement. Just keeps a fair playing field.

Nothing wrong. Just not everyone is a christian and believes in the christian god. Also this is not a christian nation. That said, then why should it be there?

They/we have lost any moral compass, and are allowing "subjective morality" to become a way of life (i.e., what is good for me may be bad for you but it's still good and vice versa).
