It would be for about 5-6 hours/day, mon-fri. She stays at home right now cuz she got laid off, but she does need an income. Help?

I watch my brother's daughter - what we did was get prices from a couple of other private daycares around town and decided on an amount in-between which was fair for both of us.

Keep in mind that the 2 month old is more needy than your 2 yr old.

My sis-in-law watches our 2 1/2 year old daughter 3 days a week. We were only paying her $20 a week because we were so broke but as we made more we upped it to $40 a week. She is happy and appreciates anything we can give her. One day care we looked at was $20 a day and that was the cheapest one we could find. I would ask "mom" and see what she thinks is fair. Maybe $10 a day with a little bonus (like $60 a week would be good). Most day cares around here are $125 to $175 a week. Good luck!

Talk to her and look at your income. How much can you afford?

Talk this over with her and your hubby. Will it be during nap time? We need a babysitter to come for the 3-4 hours while our son (also 2) is taking a nap, and we also have a 2 month old. We're anticipating paying about $10/day.

Where will she be watching them, your home or hers?
What are both the private and public day cares charging in your area?
In my community it is about 30 a day in a public day care, (and the same for most private) and parents that have a family member coming to their home might pay between 15-20$ a full day for one and 20-25 for 2 children.

I get $7/hr for one 4 yr old...which I think is pretty good... should be more with yours tho, because they are a bit more responsibility and there's two of them :P ..
Maybe call around to your local daycare(s) and see what they were charge you and for how long to kind of give you an idea? You could pay her along the same rate =)
Good luck and I hope this helps!

I think looking at what daycares around your area charge, especially for infants. It can be expensive. I would then take the average of daycare costs and give her a little bit less than that .....that way she is making some money, and you are also getting a little bit of a deal.

100 to 125 a week would be a good base to start off with. What you need to be prepaired for is when she goes back to work. Daycare's can and will be expensive, but most communities have program's that will assist you with them.

u should pay her what is a going rate in ur area.
like u said, she is laid off and she needs income. she is family, ur children can't get a better babysitter than this. so give her a fair pay.
