I don't know about the Brigatine restaurant but I know a lot of restaurants on the West Coast (I live in Washington but used to live in California) serve a Squaw Bread. It's brown and sweet and generally cooked into a dome shape, bringing a small dome to the table - sliced - with honey butter. If that's it, Google Squaw Bread. Only thing is, they use a browning product that we can't buy in the store to color it brown. So you can make it where it tastes the same but isn't that rich brown color. I love that Squaw Bread.

I am a former chef and if it is round and sweet, it could be a version of Boston Brown bread, it is made with molasses, and is qute moist.

I say was it round as it is baked in coffee cans or smaller tins, ir is not hard to make and I can give you some links to a number of recipes, I made it to in a number of the restaurants and hotels, it went well with pates, cheese spreads and for even caviar.
