I was raised Catholic, I still consider myself Catholic, I feel the most comfortable at a Catholic church, etc. etc.

But I must say that I am pro-choice..and at mass every week there is some talk about abortion, and it makes me feel out of place.

Why are you SO devoted to the battle against abortion? Much more than Protestants?

Because Satan, who is the great "mimmicker of truth" and the "father of lies"......hopes to recruit them one day into his false institution of worship.....Satan is much more clever than you think.

I am Catholic. I work in a Catholic ministry and i have had an abortion!!!

I am not an evil person i am a person. A person who just like everyone else has made choices that have not turned out the way i wanted. When you are in the situation where abortion is the ONLY answer to a really hard question (and yes i know that there is adoption so dont even go there) you become a "logical" thinking person. I didnt want to be pregnant ( i was in a committed relationship with someone i loved very much) but i didnt want an abortion either, so you go with what has to be done now. I (and millions of others)believed that when i had this done i would go back to the way things were before i was pregnant.

Im not writting this to get you to feel sorry for me or for you to lecture me about killing my child I KNOW WHAT I DID AS DOES EVERY OTHER WOMAN WHO HAS DONE THIS WE MAY HAVE HAD AN ABORTION WE ARENT STUPID!!!

Im writting this to open up some eyes and hearts to get some really closed minded perople to see what this is.

We live in a society that FORCES women to choose between their future and their baby. You and I and everyone else in this world has more blame to carry for those woman sitting in a clinic today than they do themselves. Maybe if we startind valueing woman for being women than this arguement would be history as it should be. How about we let younger woman in and to do the same thing for our generation that my grandmother got to do for hers and than we may gat somewhere

PS the Catholic church is an amazing place to go for after an abortion maybe you should read Evangelium vitea 99

I think it ties to the idea that every child is a gift from god, and they should be treated as such, not as a burden. and that if the 'couple' who produced the child cannot/ will not be able to raise it the child should be given to a couple who can, so that they may enjoy the life style of parenthood.

I'm technically pro-life, but unlike the RCC I have no problems w/ contraception. and the 'technically' disclaimer comes from the fact that I'm a guy, and have yet to be 'tried in the fire' of an unplanned pregnancy, should that day come, i'm shallow enough to say I could very easily flip on the issue, that said, given the facts I'd sooner date a single mother, or one who gave the child up than one who had an abortion (however since I doubt That topic would arise on a first date, where as a kid spending the night at grandma's house surely would, i also wouldn't abandon a potential relationship based solely on a past abortion, should it come to light some time down the line

Life is a precious gift from God! Humans don't have a right to decide life and death. That is only God's choice. Life starts at the moment of conception. The best example I can give is that of a seed in the ground. Once it has germinated it is a plant if you pull it it dies. But if you nurture it it grows. So is a child in the womb. You wouldn't be here if your parents had decided you weren't convent at the time.

I believe all Christians believe this way. Catholics are just more vocal about it.

Some people try to justify abortion by claiming that the result of conception, at least up to a certain number of days, cannot yet be considered a personal human life. But in fact, "from the time that the ovum is fertilized, a life is begun that is neither that of the father nor the mother; it is rather the life of a new human being with his own growth.
Catholics have not the luxury to be pro-choice and be fully Catholic as well, you need to reconsider your loyalty to the doctrine of the church.

Have you ever witnessed photos of an abortion or its aftermath? A young helpless child torn apart limb by limb without any anesthesia? or in the case of the insidious 'partial birth' abortion, a suction hose is injected into the base of its skull and its brains sucked out....again without any anesthesia.

The next time that you receive surgery or dental work, be sure and tell them that you want to pass on the anesthesia....and remember how every painful it is, you will remain alive afterwards.

History has shown that whenever a "civilization" has performed child sacrifice, that "civilization" has been destroyed. Read about Our Lady of Guadalupe....note that she appeared pregnant.

Further, human fetal abortion is a Satanic attack upon the body of Christ, which is the Church. When a woman says "THIS IS MY BODY", she is mocking the sacred words of consecration of Christ at the Last Supper.

Satan always apes and mocks Christ.

Countries like USA who practice this en masse will be punished dearly.

If you were an abortionist how would you extract a baby during and abortion. What would you see when you were done?
The procedure requires you to make sure you have accounted for all the parts of the baby. What would you see.

Thankfully, there is a group that is brave enough to stand and speak for the babies without voices.

yikes this forum is scary.
Glad to see that you're somewhat open-minded about such topics. The church can say that life starts at conception but there is no proof. Religion is not proof just faith. Scientists, doctors, and others can say that life doesn't start at conception but there still isn't proof. If there was proof then we wouldn't even have problems like this in the world. Honestly nobody knows when life starts. I would rightfully assume that the scientists and doctors have more evidence than the church though.

Abortion is the taking of innocent life. All human life begins the same way. If left intact, a fertilized egg will grow and eventually be born and is always a human being.

I am a convert to Catholicism. I was pro-choice when I joined the Church and remained vocally adamant about it for many more years. A turning point for me was reading "Humane Vitae" --- wow---I was awestruck by the genuine desire for the spiritual good of humanity. The love the Church holds for the people it shepherds is undeniable. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/paul_vi/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-vi_enc_25071968_humanae-vitae_en.html

But to understand the basis for being against abortion, you must understand the reasons for being for life. Each of us is a child of God a special unique person. When do we become a child of God? After we're born? In the first or second trimester? Wouldn't you agree that God knew each of us before we were even conceived?

Knowing that each life is intricately connected to the creator of life, we cannot justifiably end that life. It is not ours to do with as we please, it is a unique individual. In fact it has it's own DNA at conception. One person here makes the claim that the Church believes it's a person and science believes it is not...that is actually not true. Science actually believes that it is a unique individual at conception...it's just that many do not believe that alone gives this indivdual the right to life.

99% of all abortions are for convenience. People are not ready to have a baby, or they cannot afford it. This type of thinking has become prevelant because of contraception. Contraception has allowed us to expect to have sex and not have babies. Actually, when sex works the way God intended it to, we do have babies. So, with our contraceptive mentality, we approach sex as a self-pleasing act...it is a selfish act. There is no room for an "unwanted" child in this selfish act. We have pushed God out of the sexual union and made it all about us.

Many say every child a wanted child. I saw one post here that wonders why us pro-lifers aren't adopting all the children that need homes. Funny statement when you think about it. After over 30 years of legalized abortion...why are there any unwanted children at all. Every woman in this country has the legal right to an abortion if she does not "want" her child. Sad but true. There should be no unwanted children...but there are. In fact, child abuse and neglect have gone UP since Roe v Wade. Amazing huh? It is because abortion has devalued the child and human life in general.

When contraception fails...what then? If someone is just having recreational sex why should they be burdened with a baby? Unfair they cry! I was having sex but never expected to get pregnant! Why? Sex is designed by God, to bring life into this world. So contraception demands that abortion be available. People have styled their lives around being able to have non-reproductive sex. This requires abortion on demand.

I could go on and on. I'm very passionate about it, and as I said I was a pro-choice woman. I actually had two aboritons during those years. Even as I layed on that table watching my babies killed...my pro-choice mentality could not protect me from my maternal instincts. I cried and cried. I still hurt for those children and wonder who they would have been. I cannot bring them back but I love them and I pray for them.

Each of us has a right to life. God has created life, we have no right to take it away from anyone.

I'm scared to even answer that question on this forum.
I think there is a big emphasis on Fertility, on producing children, and well I think this appearance of Godliness but denying the power there of is not a good thing. Read the book of Galations.

Unwanted babies and unwanted adults both have a right to live. Vigilantes abort the lives of adults they deem a menace to this world. Would you approve of that? Maybe, because they're guilty. But, an innocent baby?! The real problem is that we have become slaves of the flesh. We obey its lusts unmindful of our souls. We cannot discipline ourselves.
