My choice is Japan but my family prefers west europe. My complaint is that the west europe tour consists only 10 days in 6 countries. So, what do you guys think?

I think that only 10 days is too short for any trip, specially if you have to start taking in a different way of live.
I live in Europe, in a 10 day trip I will go to 3 towns, all of them close together, in the same country.
6 countries in 10 days will give you less than one day per country in fact, as you will need to travel from one place to an other too. I think there are about 3 European 'countries' you might be able to see in a day, Monaco, Vatican city and Andorra, and I am not even sure about those.

I have been in Japan, and it took several days to get adjusted there, but after that you will be able to concentrate on the country you are in without have to think this is Thursday so this must be Paris.

I think you will be much better off forgetting the tour, just going to Japan or coming to Europe and seeing 2 towns and a bit of the countryside, by preference in one general area.

It depends on where in Japan and when to go...
I think Japan is a nice place to visit, but in summer it's very hot and humid, but there are many festivals in summer.
In winter, basically nothing to do, but some sightseeing spots are nice especially in winter.

I've never been to Europe, but if you are going to 6 countires in 10 days, probably you'll only see nice historical places.
That sounds fun, but maybe you'll get tired...
