The spiritual side of the universe is pretty much pure energy. The human soul would be the spiritual, or energy body, that you have residing in the body. It may leave its residence, sometimes at night, in order to make connection with other spirits of those alive and dead, or to commute with the events happening there. But the main focus of the human soul, is to give spiritual guidance to oneself, or intuition, to keep you out of trouble, and to help guide you in doing good in the world.

1. "Everyone would agree that each of us has a soul"; not atheists or agnostics
2. If your are really interested, read the wiki article first http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul
3. "Scientific" claims of a material soul are unverifiable -
if you are thinking of that mass difference experiment, where a person was weighed before and after death, with a small decrease in mass - I say again, it is not verifiable; so "Where do you think it is located" is null question. Different religions have different opinions, so a concensus is impossible.
4. If the soul is an energy, energy defined as a scalar physical quantity, then it would be some electromagnetic quanta (only plausible energy for human size)...

Many have been with dieing people constantly , at no time has anyone witnessed anything that could be passed off as a "soul " . Many have died under the surgeons knife , no "souls " have ever been seen .
If a "soul" leaves the body at the time of death , it would have been witnessed many many times. It never happened .
" Soul " is only a superstitious imaginary belief . It had to be invented by the church to explain how dead body could end up in heaven . Everybody can see that the dead person just decays to nothing , so a " soul " had to be invented .

I think the term soul means the complete being... the body and the spirit. Spirit without a body is not a soul. A body without a spirit (the active force) is not a soul. God creates souls,, he created adam and made him a soul (a being) by blowing life (spirit) into him. So, the soul is you!!! about the spirit.... that is difficult to tell. it is not like the fuel which you put into a car's tank. I think the spirit is just a conscious being, with a freedom of choice.

Most religions would have you beleive that the soul is immortal, that it is something inside a person that at death leaves the boby and if you have been a good person youre soul will go to heaven, if you have been bad your soul will be tormented in a so called hellfire. What does the bible teach us on the subject ?
In the Bible the word “soul” appears in many translations as a rendering for the Hebrew word ne′phesh and the Greek word psy·khe′
These same Hebrew and Greek terms have also been translated as “being,” “creature” and “person.”
(Genesis 2:7) We may note that the Bible does not say that ‘man received a soul,’ but that “man came to be a living soul.”
It is also noteworthy that the terms ne′phesh and psy·khe′ are applied to animals. Concerning the creation of sea and land creatures, the Bible says: “God went on to say: ‘Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls [“creatures,” New English Bible] and let flying creatures fly over the earth’ . . . God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about . . . ‘Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its kind.’”—Genesis 1:20-24.
The Scriptural evidence is unmistakably clear that man does not have an immortal soul but is himself a soul.
The immortality of the soul is founded on greek theoulogy and not the bible.
SOS means save our souls
The bible says 8 souls survived the flood
The soul is the person and it is not immortal the soul can die
The Bible speaks of souls as dying, and as being struck fatally, killed, destroyed or devoured. And it uses the specific term “dead soul.”EZEKIEL 18:4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.

The human soul is the breath of God in us. A good illustration is the Hindu belief in the Atman. Brahma, the creator god is a pond, the atman is a glass of water from that pond, the glass or container being the corporeal body. That water in the glass has to be returned to the pond but before that happens the water in the glass should be cleansed first. Hinduism and Buddhism believe in reincarnation to cleanse the soul. Christians believe in confession and purgatory.

The human soul is a person's spirit, the spirit of a person is who and what they are. Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Two opposing forces; essence (pure, divine) and ego (evil). The soul as you put is, is encapsulated in the evil ego piece by piece. The way to free it is to live 'in the moment' by reflecting on our response to a situation the micro second it happens. We destroy the ego by asking our divine inner mother (Kundalini) to evaporate the ego to cosmic dust, in the moment, thus freeing the essence trapped within. The free essence then joins the fight for illumination and strengthens the work of 'self observation' ie, the death of the ego in motion. When the soul is free completely of the ego then we have created our 'solar bodies' and can return, with conscience, to the source from where we came, the absolute.

Our soul is love.
A Greek myth about creation once said that before there was anything in world, before there was heaven or earth, there was only chaos. Suddenly, out of nowhere, love was born. Out of love, light was born. And out of love and light, everything just seemed to be created. Love was the the world's true creator.
Anyway, our sould is filled with love even though how much sin pierces it.

Man is spirit, soul, and body:
1 Thess 5:
23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The soul is your personilty, tastes, mind, will , and emotions.
The spirit is that part which died when Adam sinned, and needs to be born again, and the part that God communes with.
