Are you choosing a "truth" and "reality" that jives with where you are spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
Are you joyful and loving? Are you able to BE the change you believe in? Can you accept others or do you insist on "saving them".
...You can't remove the needle from another's eye until you remove the rafter from your own...
(Some here may be able to provide the proper Biblical verse.)

Not sure what 'higher knowledge" your are referring to. When we look at things that come our way, IF we use filters that only allow what agrees with our beliefs, we will learn nothing, only become more set in our ways. I suspect that is what you meant by the "needle in the eye." Approaching all things spiritual, and in fact, all things in general, with an open mind gives us the chance to expand our knowledge of ourselves and of others. Unfortunately, some of what we learn may be painful, but better to face the pain of reality that live in ignorant bliss. Goldwing

In Christian teachings it is completely impossible for any human to save anyone. Only God can do that through Jesus Christ. The term should be 'witnessing - bearing testimony to something'. Preaching AT someone, forcing belief on them through shaming, blaming, shoulds does more harm than good. It is abusive and unChristian. i.e. "the mote and beam.' I nearly went broke buying books and attending seminars (I had to pay for) on belief systems, relationships and why i was so confused and emotional. I abruptly stopped, became patient and waited for an answer. I became a Christian (free to all who seek) because the Holy Spirit began to talk to me gently as a gentleman would. I wasn't condemned. Just to add more information, I'm sane, it wasn't Seth, Allah, Jupiter, the Buddha or "Ralph, the guy next door." I love people. The ONLY commandment - Matthew 22: 37-39 encapsulate all the 10 commandments in the O.T. I am open about my beliefs. I'm happier than I've ever been in my life, my problems stem from my poor choices not God's condemnation, I receive forgiveness (mine and God's) and my storehouses are full to overflowing.

I haven't. I continue to search for higher knowledge.
Some might stop because:
1) They are distracted.
2) They stop valuing it.
3) they are uncomfortable with what they have found out or think they've found out, and so rebel against it.
Did you notice how Proverbs started?
1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
I find that purposefully instructional. Like a text book that establishes it's reason for being. Sometimes I have to remind myself the good which is found in the word of God.

Well see I feel safer having faith in God because if I get in a car wreck, lose half my brain function and can't attain anymore knowledge because of a head injury
(which could also happen due to a bad fall, victim of a crime or an illness) well then I still have GOD you see and I'll be okay. My friend, she had a brain tumor and though she survived she now has to rely totally on God to get her through her days. Her God and her faith in God is why she is okay. Her brain is well, severely damaged at this point.

Psalm 1
BOOK I : Psalms 1-41
1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

you hit close enough to get yourself on 3rd base.... from life's experience as long as you have someone trying to save you it's hard to be joyful and loving.... and I often would love to take the needle in my eye to poke out their eyes ... they apparently don't use their eyes to see truth anyway... but other than that.....
it would seem that either way religion for or against is something that prevents anyone from getting to the truth... for if it's not your own blindness.. someone else seeks to put truth down just as you begin to understand it....

I suppose you think yourself full of esoteric wisdom from reading a single, very popular, many-thousand-year old tome. Good for you. But keep it down with your rapt discoveries, will you? We're busy solving real problems, and learning real things here.

Actually, I've sought more than you have come close to seeking. It is only now, that I have sought all there is, that I am comfortable in my proclamation that I am an Atheist.
There may be a god, but there is no real proof, and lucky for us all, it's not the Christian, Jewish, Or Islamic God.
