Oh! I have this problem too, but I have straight hair! I think this technique would work the same, but:
Scrub as hard as you have to to get the dandruff out and then use a shampoo called Selsun Blue. This shampoo may take multiple uses to completely rid of all the dandruff, but it's worth it, it works great.
Another good shampoo is Head and Shoulders. It's less expensive, I think... I'm not sure how it compares to Selsun Blue, though... I've tried both, and neither are dangerous or irritate the scalp.
Be sure to rinse ALL the shampoo out afterwards, though, because that can also cause dandruff! (Crazy, right?)

I got dandruff a while back and it was because I wasn't rinsing out my shampoo enough.. So this could be your problem? Make sure you get all the shampoo out of your hair before getting out of the shower.
The best way to get rid of dandruff is just use the special dandruff shampoos.. I don't really know the names but I'm sure it would not be hard to find them at target or walmart with the other shampoos.

Dandruff usually occurs when the scalp is dry and/or does not have enough circulation to stimulate the oils in your head. Also, your scalp ducts could be clogged from overuse of product. Sounds like you first need to help clear your scalp. Try using jojoba oil. Desert essence is an excellent brand. Apply jojoba oil to your scalp and rub it in the same way you shampoo. Masssage for several minutes. The oil will help break down the product and start to unclog the pores in your scalp. You can either leave the oil in your hair overnight and wash in the morning, or do a twice weekly treatment a half hour before showering with your regular shampoo. Plus the jojoba oil will literally clean your scalp and hair, and is a natural moisturizer leaving you with healthy, shiny hair. I've been using jojoba oil and (knock on wood) I haven't had dry scalp yet. But I also use it in conjunction with head & shoulders shampoo in the dry winter months.

My husband uses Head & Shoulders intensive treatment. You should try that, and also, any kind of shampoos and conditioners with Tea Tree Oil help with dandruff.
Don't scrub really hard, you will just stir up more dead skin. Also try a conditioning hair mask, I use one from Avon, and you just put it on your hair and especially massage into your scalp, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then rinse it out.

Head & Shoulders Classic Clean or pick out the choices of dandruff shampoo from that brand. It's really great!
And, never scrub your head really hard because that will harm your scalp and make it have flakes coming off.

I used to have bad dandruff too, what I did was start using Head and Shoulders, which ever bottle you want, because they all stop dandruff, and start to wash your hair more often, if not EVERY day, then everyother day, and before you wash your hair, try to scratch as much of the dandruff out & in the shower also, it really helped me, and now I dont have any at all, hoped this helped

Well you need to clean all your brushes and hair stuff first. You also need to make sure you aren't sharing things with other people that have it. You can use something like head and shoulders for daily shampoo. If you use conditioner then only use it on the bottom part of your hair. You can get a tar based shampoo, like T-Gel, they sell it at Walmart and all pharmacy's. If you use it a couple times a week and then the head and shoulders it will really help. Mine gets bad when I visit my family because my father has it, but when I'm home I can usually get it to go away.

You can use any of the basic ones from the store like Head and Shoulders or Selsun Blue. If those don't work, your doc can prescribe Nizoral, and if that doesn't work, there are other things. My latest is Temovate that I squirt on my scalp at night, and it works well; it's a steroidal liquid.
Dandruff is dead skin caused by a fungus, and you just have to stay on it. It has nothing to do with your hair.

Ive got the same problem, the harder you scrub, the more likely you are to break the skin, and then you get head scabs, constant itching doesn't help them heal either, selson blue has worked for me, (head and shoulders, t-gel do not work for me) but I would rather walk around with a shaved head than smell like a medicine cabinet all day, so the solution for me has been to start shaving my head :) it takes care of the dandruff, and I love the feel of pulling a wool hat off of a days worth of scalp stubble

They have several brands of Dandruff Shampoos and conditioners. All are about equal in controlling dandruff You will need to Wash thoroughly, Rinse, and Wash thoroughly again as the directions indicate.
Ask your Hair Stylist for suggestions.
