NO. The pope is not. The pope is a mere man just like other men. There is only One Living Messiah and His name is Jesus the Christ who is the only way to God the Father. By no other name can men be saved.

1. The anticipated savior of the Jews.
2. Jesus.
3. One who is anticipated as, regarded as, or professes to be a savior or liberator
Pope Benedict XVI is not regarded as to professes to be a savior or liberator.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing, not being a messiah.
All Christians should be working to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God begun by Jesus Christ among all peoples. This is not the same as being a messiah.

The Pope is only a man, and he doesn't represent God on earth, or most Christians for that matter. He only represents Catholics, as being the head of the Catholic church. He makes mistakes like everyone else, and is not superior to other people.

The Catholic church was not even started until 305/6 A.D. when 29 men decided to start a new religion that would NOT obey all Jesus, the real messiah, told us.

Nobody considers the Pope to be any kind of a 'god' . He simply holds the highest office of the Catholic church . He is to Catholics what the President is to Americans .

No. The pope is just the politically appointed head of the catholic church. And as soon as this one dies, the catholic church will appoint their next favorite guy to be pope. It's not about piety or having the most faith; it's about which old guy kisses the most butt as he comes up through the ranks.
