Excellent question! The object of God's teaching to man is that man may know himself in order to comprehend the greatness of God. If we can begin to get an inkling of the amazing who and what we are, we begin to understand the incomparable greatness of that from which we originated.

However humanity needs educators, and the universal educators have given humanity knowledge both to transform individually and collectively.

People look for the answers to the big questions in life from authority figures in the cultures where they grew up, and often those authority figures say that the answers and communion with God can be found only through a particular holy book. Of course, the interpretations of those human authority figures are also part of the package.
Only when people start to think for themselves about spiritual issues will they seek communion with God through prayer, meditation, and life experience.

Do you mean "Thou art God" as proposed in Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land"?

I'd like to what you and others really mean when you write "books which were written by humans".

If you mean instead of God personally taking pen in hand and jotting down everything, then what do you expect? Supposedly God did write the Ten Commandments by His own "hand", as well as a couple of other things, but did you expect Him to personally write everything? Or maybe have a squirrel or some other animal do it, so that is wasn't from a human?

If you mean that the writings are human's interpretation of things, then your question contradicts itself. If we look for God in ourselves then whatever we would have to say or write about God then would come from inside of ourselves.

And just because humans wrote down the accountings as they saw them to be doesn't mean they aren't true.

If it wasn't for the books written by humans religion would be nothing but stories passed down from generation to generation and would be considered as true as the gators in New York's sewers. Nonexistant.

Reality:

1. Many more individuals are born than can possibly survive, thus there is competition for limited resources

2. Within this vast number there is variation, and because of this variation some of these individuals will have an advantage--however slight--over others

3. The ones who have the advantages are more competitive and thus they are more likely to obtain the limited resources

4. The ones who are succeeding in securing the limited resources are more likely to reproduce and thus pass onto their offspring the more competitive traits

BTW.....why does anyone pray?? Doesnt God already know everything and doesnt he control everything??

Does the person who prays the most get the most?? Is it a contest with God?? Does he keep score??

It occurs to me that praying is very selfish b/c God already knows it all and controls it all, so it makes no sense to me....unless of course God is just pure fiction....mmmmmm....

That way of thinking that most christians have is what made a lot of people become atheists. When I ask why people do believe that the Bible is the word of God, I get answers such as "God wouldn't lie". Cmon !!!

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:10

He is within if we accept Him and invite Him in.

Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

"God is within man - man is within God."

Where did I come from?
What is this place that I have been born into?
Who am I?
Where am I going?

This is the mystery, that we have been sent here to solve!
