if they're not whining about it, why are you? if you don't live in new York, how is this affecting you?
------------------------------
Unfortunately, if New York issues them a drivers license, it must be accepted in all the other states. It is open to a significant law suite also, and it may not be possible for anyone to know if there are dealing with a citizens, or an illegal alien. Welfare, social help, and much more then, is offered to that individual at great expense when it is their home country that should be paying for the cost. Should be paying for the cost... and. are. not!
============================
and if they don't like it, then they can voice their opinion by voting in a new governor who will abolish the law
--------------------------------
Once the licenses are issued, it will be very difficult to withdraw them. If they move to another state with their new licenses, they can easily get lost. One effort by the people who have been fighting the illegal aliens for a very long time has been to prevent those folks from getting the licenses because they are the key to allowing the illegal aliens to disappear on our country.
====================
Don't... do NOT allow the illegal aliens to have a drivers license anywhere. It enables staggering welfare payments, and I want this country to spend the money on citizens.. not illegal aliens.

It was my understanding that you have to provide a SS card and a birth certificate to obtain a drivers license anywhere in the U.S. This may not always be upheld. Driving a car legally is also one of the privileges of being a U.S. citizen. So how is the DMV giving out DLs without seeing SS cards and birth certificates, and how is it that we are extending the rights of citizenship to people who have no rights in this country? Become a citizen, it's not that hard.

I beleive it is a huge mistake for a host of different reasons. Over 70% of the citizens in NY are against it......they are fighting....there just seems to be a governor (like too many other ELECTED officials) that seems to be deluded into thinking they are King or Queen and not a SERVENT of the people. Problem is these yahoos can create a huge amount of damage before they get their egotistical butts voted out of office. That is if it can ever happen now with stupid moves like this. Guarentee this next election will be racked with voter fraud like we have never seen.
I agree while some cities are fighting for the rule of law....others are doing everything they can against it. Makes me sick to see my country torn apart like this. Maybe we shouldn't bother with the border fence. Just open the welcome mat to illegals to all these cities that think its so grand and build a wall around them and let them live with the fallout....while the rest of us continue to abide by our laws.

Get real...they don't want a license to drive, they are already doing that; They want the official ID from the Department of Motor Vehicles for the sole purpose of registering to vote...

Since being an illegal alien is a crime and New York has adapted a policy that aids and abets criminals and fugitives, the State of New York is guilty of a Federal offense and should be prosecuted.
But since the Federal Government doesnt have the nerve to uphold the law of the land, dont hold your breath waiting for it.

I am against any form of legality to these illegal invaders. No priviledges should be granted to them at all. And if anyone had any doubts of what their intentions are, check out the fires in California. Terrorists do heinous things to try to destroy our accomplishments, sound familiar? Load 'em up and move 'em out. NOW!

I think it goes in the wrong direction. We make it entirely to 'comfortable' to be here. The whole idea that they should get any sort of privilege instead of deportation if identified is unbelievable to me.
That being said, at least they are looking at a 3 tier license now, so they will be easy to identify.

It is BS and I think that the people who pass these laws enabling illegals to gain licenses or any other benefits should be put in jail

I don't like any support for illegals and if the NY citizens don't stand up they get what they deserve>If they give them DL than they will have millions more going there>Like the rebuilding of housing in Calf> Job securty>>
