You basically need to re-build the room.

You can turn on AM static and play at high volumes, then go around the outside of the room and listen to how the sound escapes. Put laytex calk or insulation to seal things off.

But low-frequencies - these do not go through small holes or under the door. These transmit by shaking the walls and you need to add weight to solve this problem.

You need to isolate the walls and this is usually done by installing spacer rails around all the walls and putting a second layer of sheatrock over the first leaving a 1-2 inch gap between the pair.

Then you need to install a second floor over the first using dense particle boards well attached so they dont 'boom'. Then a second ceiling inside the first.

So it is basically building a room within a room.

Several companies also make sound-reducing Sheetrock and sound adsorbing insulation.

It may not be actual soundproofed, but you can hang carpet against the wall to muffle out sounds and keep speaker sounds from bouncing against the wall.

well it depends... like are you trying to make it for a hometheatre setup or like a recording studio?

for basic setups i used soundproof insulation and sound proof drywall (it was green 10 years ago). it works well i just need to put in a steel door instead of the wood one i have.

i wouldnt worry about the wiring so much.

Egg shells is the cheap way to go. (not from eggs but the foamy stuff you see in music studios or TV studios.)
