PS

some respondents seem to think I am in a dilemma about my own situation: I'm not! I don't believe in God or Heaven and I am simply interested in what religious people believe about the issue of openly practicing gays going into what THEY believe will be a Heavenly Paradise of Everlasting Life.
I don't believe that place exists but many do - so what do you think?

For all you believers who seem to know what god thinks then here is an interesting quote:

Prolific religious author and former nun Karen Armstrong rejected religion and says:

"People very often talk about God as a kind of acquaintance, whom they can second-guess. People will say God loves that, God wills that and God despises the other. And very often, the opinions of the Deity are made to coincide exactly with those of the speaker."

I believe what the Bible says.. No one unclean may enter the Kingdom of God.. That's why we must be born again. Because in our fleas that was born physically we are sinners. In our new creation in Jesus Christ we have been born perfect because of His blood.. Anyone who will turn away from sin and toward God ask Him to cleanse then and make them His child will enter the Kingdom of God... IHS Jim

You give yourself too much importance by saying you don't believe. Yet you want to know, why, ok your a writer, that's good.

God is all forgiving and looks upon the heart of men, it really doesn't matter to Him if you believe in Him or not. It is NOt what many people believe a battle between God and the man made devil. God already took care of that situation eons ago.

God will look at how you treat people your fellow human beings, little puppies and stray dogs and all that whether your heart is good, not whether you think your heart is good but whether He thinks your heart is good. there is a difference for it is the fallicy of man to justify our deeds and actions. It it human nature this is why we christians, stay close to the words spoken by Jesus, they are simply the truth about the way we must love one another and help one another whenever we can and the need presents itself. Peace we pray for it.

The generally accepted interpretation of God's Word on that says no, because its an abomination, but only God can truly answer your question. I do wonder though, why you care one way or another. In your case, being an atheist would be reason enough for you NOT to be "welcomed into the Kingdom", but, then again, being an atheist, you wouldn't want to go there anyway, right?

I am a believer of a Higher Power. I don't indulge in "organized" religion.
I don't know that there is a Kingdom of Heaven and frankly, nor do I care. I can only live in the now of today and be the best person I can be to friends, family and in life in general. I refuse to fret and worry of the hereafter when in fact, there may not be one.
I am a lesbian but I really don't believe that has any bearing on the person I am internally

The Bible answers...

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators... nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men... will inherit God’s kingdom.”

The good news is, people can change...

1 Corinthians 6:11 “And yet that is what some of you were.”

You can always abandon a lifestyle that God disapproves of. He is ready and willing to help you too! The choice is yours.

It's always really upset me that a lot of gays feel banished by God and so they just quit believing in him. I'm not sure if this is your case or not, but it happened with a gay friend of mine.

I think the main problem are Christians, not Christ. I'm Christian, so I'm not trying to offend anyone, but a lot of the time it's radical Christians that make gays feel so exiled from the religion. They go around acknowledging homosexuality as a sin, and so they get angry and make signs that say 'burn in hell' or they just treat gays meanly. Why? Because they're sinners.

But Jesus himself said "He who is without sin, cast the first stone." I don't think it's right or fair for all these Christians to be angry at gays for diliberatley disobeying God. It's not like people are bothering them because they haven't been to church in 3 weeks, because they have a drinking problem, or because they lie and hate. It's all sin. We're all sinners. And it's not the job of us to condemn.

When Jesus came to earth, he made it quite clear that most importantly you must love God..AND one another. Jesus loved sinners, and instead of casting people aside of there sin, we should be loving sinners as well. (Because undeniably, we are all sinners.)

But then again, most gays do not consider being homosexual a sin, even though the Bible clearly says so. But the Bible also mentions sex before marriage as a huge sin, and there are plenty of Christians who do it anyway.

Now whether a gay acknowledges it as a sin or not, I believe it is a sin, because I believe in the Bible. (Not so much the homosexuality, but the sexual aspect of it. That's also sex before marriage, but that's not entirely fair because gays aren't allowed marriage in many places. So even if gays are attempted to lead a more Christian life by waiting, its not even fair because they have nothing to wait for.)

HOWEVER, as I eleborated, we are ALL sinners. That's why Jesus died, so we can be forgiven of our sins and enter the kindgom of God.

Although being gay is deliberatley disobey a rule of God, I completely believe that if a gay person still has a close and loving relationship with God, then they are saved and definitely not condemned. Loving God is the important part.

However, if the person is gay, and they don't acknowledge the existance of God, than I do believe they are condemned. But just because they don't believe in God.

Honestly (and I'm not trying to push religion at you all, but this is just what i believe), why risk eternal damnation by not believing? Eternity is obviously neverending, and even if you don't believe in it, there is still the chance that life after death exists. Why risk not sharing an eternity with Jesus, who loves you regardless of your sins? There are tons of people on earth who banish you because of one sin, but that's something Jesus won't do.

He loves you. Love him back before it's too late.

While many of us may want to jump to say yes or no, truth is none of us know. We have stories of gay peoples in our texts and it is generaly though of as a sin, however what we forget is that no one but God judges us for the afterlife. I personally think that there are some who will and some who won't, but again, it's not really a decision I make or something I claim to know or think I know. God (according to Islam at least) judges us based on what we did in this life, how we handled His tests, what we did with the blessings He gave us, and most importantly He judges us on our intentions most of all. What lies in our hearts. So, with that in mind (and I know you're atheist, so just flow with me here, lol), only you and God know what lies in your heart. That is the very reason why we are taught that when we face God for His judgement, there will be no one, absolutely no one to plead for us. Only ourselves and God.

God will not punish those people who have lived a life of love just because there are other humans believe that it is sinful.

Jesus preached love, pure and simple. So long as that love is real, that's all that matters.

Homosexuality will not be held against you when you are judged.

No, any and all who partake in sin (homosexuality being among them) will go to hell. The Bible says that homosexuality is a sin. Unless your turn from your sin and repent, God will send you to hell for eternity. No if's, and's, or but's. You can't talk your way out of it. It's a fact.

What's done in this life will affect where you spend eternity. Those who have accepted Christ as their Saviour and have tried to live a God-pleasing life will be welcomed with open arms into Heaven. Those who have rejected Christ and have turned their back to Him will be send to eternal torture and agony in hell.
