So here's the deal, just recently my parents want to move to QLD, but I personally dislike the idea, due to the fact i've lived in Melb/Vic most of my life, I'm 18 years old. Before I go, I'm just curious as to what it is like up there, in terms of society. I was told the Gold Coast.. or whatever, was not a good place to live..? I've also completed my pre-apprentice electrical course, so if any electrical apprentices out there reading, i would like to know from you, or anyone who lived in both states, or anyone in particular who knows. Thankyou~

I live in Cairns but I come from Brisbane. Gee, chill out, you are not moving to another country ; you are still in Australia. The Gold Coast is okay. I don't like it personally but if you are from Melbourne you will love it ; sunshine and beaches. No more cold winters for you.
Who told you the Gold Coast is not a good place to live ? That is weird.
There should be no problem with you getting employment anywhere in south-east Queensland.

My Husband and I are both originally from Melbourne. We met in Queensland and now live around Sunshine Coast area.

We travel back to VIC a couple of times a year and we both say that we would never move back there.

Once you have been in Queensland for a bit you will probably love it. It is such a great lifestyle.

We get a lot more out of life as the weather is so much better and it is not as chaotic so you get to places quicker!

That's just our opinion!

As for jobs, you shouldn't have much problem as Queensland is growing so fast there are always new jobs available.

Queensland is GREAT - Best state in Australia......I also live in Cairns. - There is so much building / construction going on up here you won't have any problems getting electrical work. Same goes for Brisbane etc.
The Gold Coast is ok for the 'young generation to live', but it's a bit touristy. If you want a warm tropical climate, come to Cairns - it's a very relaxed atmosphere up here. Offers all the cultural advantages of life in the city -cafes, nightclubs, cinemas, theatres and restaurants, the Esplanade comes alive at night ! ... Plenty of outdoor adventure to be had too, just think you can do a bungy jump every weekend! You will never be bored here. Queensland is horrible - i can't bear to live here anymore! Rubbish all over the streets, houses all ruined, youths smashing up the whole place - IT'S A TOTAL DISGRACE! DO NOT MOVE - the only good thing is that it is close to the gbr, but not worth moving to just for that

queensland is nice weather-wise but has no culture to speak of - or rather the culture consists of drinking and fishing. life there can be bland compared to melbourne
