You didn't say if the engine will crank, but i'm just going to guess that it does, but it never actually starts. Knowing what engine this is would prove very helpful too. I'll take a gander thats its the 4.7L V8. I'd point to the crankshaft position sensor as the source of your troubles. This sensor can cause the intermitent "no start" that you said is the problem. It should cause a "check engine light" and any big auto parts store should be able to retireve the code for free. It sounds like your mechanics are in the dark and you might want to find a new one.

ps. I dig girls that drive trucks!

That's hard to figure out when it's not acting up for the mechanic. My guess would be a fuel pump may be acting up. It may sometimes not come on like it should. There are lots of other information I would like to know to try to really determine a guess. Does it only not start in the morning. Does it do it after driving it for a while. Fuel pumps tend to fail suddenly but sometimes they will act up like this before the completely fail. If it acts up right after you've driven it then I would say the fuel pump won't start because it needs to cool before it works again, that would expain the 1/2 hour wait. If it acts up only in the morning the check valve in the fuel pump may be sticking. However that wouldn't make it not start for thirty minutes. It would just mean you tried to start it two or three times on the first start up of the day before it did start. Next time it does it try this. Turn the key on withought engaging the starter, for about 2 seconds then turn it off. Do this 3 times. If it then starts your fuel pump is the issue.

not sure where the ignition module is on your vehicle but I would replace that first. It may be in the distributor. I have seen those do exactly what you are talking about. It would always be best if someone could check it when it was not starting but there are only a few things that do what you are talking about. the module, the pickup in the distributor.

If it dose it after you've driven it and parked it a while, It's probably the pickup coil in the distributor soaking up heat and failing.

next time you get a chance to take it to any parts store and have then run a computer scan on it for you ,most of them do this for free now,and that might tell you whats wrong with it,at least it might give you a trouble code to work with, and that will help in repairing it,good luck on it.
