I`m making plans to visit, as a diversion off route 66. For example do they do tourist trips round the Brickyard?, forget museums etc. Cheap decent hotels, bars etc.

Indy is a great place to visit. They do tours at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is just west of downtown. If you are looking for a cheap hotel stay out of the downtown area and I would suggest going north or south for your hotel. As far as night life I highly recommend downtown. A few great bars to go to are the Slippery Noodle (blues), Ike and Jonesy's (70s/80s music), the Claddagh (irish pub) and Jillians. If you like cigar bars I would recommend Olives at the Omni or Nicky Blaines right off the circle on Meridian. Check the link below for other sugggestions. Have fun in Indy!!

yes, they do tours around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. we have a great Children's Museum @ 30th and Meridian Street. We have a great art museum at 38th and Michigan Road. Most of the bars where the young group hangs is in a strip called Broad Ripple...that's located at College Ave & Broad Ripple Ave. There's also the bars downtown. Most of them are located on South Meridian between South Street and Maryland Street. we have a cool mall downtown (close to the bars) called Circle Centre--there's cool shops in there. Hope you have more fun here than I do. Oh yeah, on South Meridian there's a bar called Jillian's...has video games, bowling alley, dance floor, LIQUOR!!! and broadcasted sporting events.
