Hep C is NOT transmitted through salive or bodily fluids. Hep C is transmitted by blood to blood contact with an infected person. The person would have to be bleeding from an open sore and that blood would have to go into the other person's bloodstream via an open sore or cut. Read for more info (scroll to page 2 for info on kissing):

Read about the risk factors for transmitting Hep C (HCV):

Hope this helps; best wishes.

Hep C is ONLY transferred from blood to blood contact. It CANNOT be passed from saliva, sweat, semen, tears, vaginal secretions or any other BODILY FLUID! It is a blood born virus and the only risk of transmission is if blood is involved. My mom got Hep C from a blood transfusion in the 1960's and has been married to my dad for 35 years and he has never contracted it. I got Hep C from my mom when I was born and been with my husband for 5 years and he has never contracted it. These people on here saying that it can be caught from saliva are WRONG. Unless you guys had open, bleeding sores in BOTH of your mouths, you are fine because the only risk of transmission is BLOOD TO BLOOD CONTACT. If you are still worried, I would suggest you getting tested, but I would say that your chances of having it are VERY LOW. Good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to email me.

Not very likely, but if you or the other person has an open sore in your mouth and one of you has a little bit of blood from a sore or biting your cheek, chances increase. The mucous membranes in the mouth protect you and Hep C is not carried in saliva, or a very small amount might be there. Any break in the skin or membrane and blood, semen, or vagina fluid greatly increases chances.

It is possible to catch hep c through saliva. hep c is not like AIDS/HIV and is more contagious although it is less likely that you will get it you should be tested. There are treatments for hep C, but it rarely displays symptoms for years and often not until it is too late. A simple blood test is all it takes to make certain and if you do not have health insurance most free clinics will provide this.

it is possible, but the chances are very slim. hep c is like aids in that it is transmitted through blood and body fluids, not much from saliva. now, if you have an open sore in your mouth, i'd be more worried.
