Is this not a phrase which describes exactly why religion was concieved of in the earliest of ages? Only each respective time stamp on this earth its leaders simply created divinity and usually included themselves in said lineage. Circa Egyptian mythos, ect ect. This phrase truly disturbs me. Fear god? Do you believe another term should be used? Perhaps 'respect' god? I think Fear of god imbelishes on the weaknesses of man to tend to the will of powerful dictators and political leaders to sway thongs of followers toward their sides.
The term "The fear of God" to me, means he is evil. You should never have to fear that which created you. This would rule out any religion involving god, jesus, muhammad, the bible or any of its incarnations.
I do not fear god, i refuse to fear that which does not exist.

Stand in awe of god and all he has done? Oh god, i am in awe at all the people you have killed without having to grace them with your presence. Oh god, i am in awe at how you destroy and corrupt peoples lives with works of litterature that preach violence and evil. Worst yet, i praise you in awe that you would let your followers believe in the nonsense which has tainted the bible which your devout followers claim you have created through grace of your most devout followers. it is wrong. all of that was very sarcastic if you didnt know. Yes, sarcasm the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence. I stand in awe that god gave me the ability to disbelieve him, and not the ability to find any truth that doesn't veil itself in faith. A word with no meaning.

"it only disturbes you because if there is a God and if he is real and does desire respect and reverance and does have a day of judgement, then youll have no excuse."
in response to this, it does no disturb me. I would welcome putting my foot in my mouth in this respect. But i'm 100% certain that this will never happen. If it does, great. I would gladly give proper praise to that which deserved it. Here? On earth? With a god with no face, no name, and no divine intervention? I think not. Faith is far too often confused with belief.

"to fear the LORD is to understand that ADONAI alone
can read your heart. nothing can happen to you unless
ADONAI allows it.that is where fear should kick-in
ADONAI doesn't have to put up with anything but we do.
HE can erase us all at anytime. HE doesn't have to love
anybody but HE does. so why not love HIM back?"
I welcome it, but i am yet to see it.

We should never fear God, but rather we should stand in awe of God and all He has done...Your spiritual understanding of God is limited. Very limited. Why not allow others to decide if you're intelligent, rather than telling us. Usually people trying to convince others of their intelligence is because they know no one would recognize it otherwise

You answered your own question! You can't fear something you know nothing about or refuse to believe in. When I was a child I feared (out of respect) my parents and loved them at the same time. I knew if I did something wrong they would punish me. That doesn't mean they loved me any less, matter of fact it meant they loved me even more. I'm 41 years old and I still to this day fear that I may disrespect my parents in some way. Although not intentional I try to do as they taught me to, so I fear that I won't live up to their expectations. I use that same fear (respect) for God.

Not at all agnostic front, the word used in the Bible is a translation of the hebrew word Yir'ah meaning respect reverance or peity, it only disturbes you because if there is a God and if he is real and does desire respect and reverance and does have a day of judgement, then youll have no excuse.
How do you know God does not exist? What evidence have you found too prove there is no God? You cannot logically state that there is no God because you cannot know all things so as to determine that there is no God. All you can really state is that you have yet to see inssuficient proof, after all there may be evidence that you have yet to find. I myself was An Agnostic, My Family went too Church, and they naturally took me, but at the age of 14 when I was alowed to decide whether I would attend or not, i decided to dip out of Church on sunday, dich reading the BIble, I did not want to belive in God especially a God that was as cruel as what I belived the God of the Bible was, and I seriously doubted the reality of a real afterlife. This was unitl God began too speak too me, he began showing me the fragility of my morality, that everything that I have here is simply temporal, once we die, when we take our last breath all of this wil be snatched away from us in an instant. he began too remind me of the sins of my youth, the times I had lied, stolen, used His name in vain, failed to put him first above all else and Honor those given responisbility of rasing me up too adult hood. so basicaly he showed me that everything I have would be snatched away, and whether i belived it or not i would face him in judgement, I was terrified, I trmebled beofre the Lord, and thats hen God showed me His supreme mercy, that while I had spurned him, rejected him and borken His law, christ died for us, I borke the Law (lying stealing, blasphemy ect) But jesus took the punishment on my behalf. at that moment I knew what I had too do, I repented (turned form sin) and put my full faith and trust in jesus, nd the moment I did Gods spirirt was imparted too me I have been made a new person within and without, and I have been empowered to serv eGod for all of my days. The same thing will happen too us all, one day all this that you hold so dear to your heart will simply be snatched away mercilessly at death, if you cannot prove 110% that there is no God and 110% that you will take one more breath, then I wopuld beg you too think seriously about these things.
God Bless

Aesity means self-existence. Aesity explains the metaphysical nature of God as a purely self-existent being that exists in complete actuality. God is not a being that is created by another god; neither does God create himself into existence. Rather, God has always existed as an unchanging, completely actualized being.
God has his Being of himself and to himself such that he is Absolute being and the definition of existence.
Since God’s essence is his nature and God’s existence is the same as his essence it follows that God is existence.

Everything said about God can really be reflected back on the church. Imagine it as a Wizard of Oz syndrome. The Church is the little man behind the curtain saying.
"Fear God"
(Translation) Fear the Church.
"Come to God"
(Translation) Come to the Church.
"Follow Gods rules"
(Translation) Follow the rules of the Church.
"Worship God"
(Translation) Worship the Church.
"Give to God"
(Translation) Give to the Church.
If the Churches really cared about you getting to Heaven, then they wouldn't fight tooth and nail to keep you from going to other Churches. They're so controlling that even if you go to a different Church of the same faith, they will still get offended.

there are two types of Atheists if you will!
1) God just doesn't exist
2) god and his whole story is not compatible with ppls life style ,thus not excepting him!
I have no fear ! for the sake of him existing I have to say that if I am not good enough for him then so be it! I also think he doesn't exist!

Fear can be a good thing. There are consequences to actions. One shouild always be in fear of setting up negative consequences. The fear is, that we will lose a good connection with God, and have bad consquences to our actions, due to not knowing what we are doing. Believing in the image of God, painted by traditional religions, is not necessary to connect with God. Doing good in this world alone will connect you with God. Meditation/prayer, mind-body exercise, diet, and good spiritual ideas can help you in doing more good things, and in connecting with God. God is a good and a very moral God.
