This is a sincere Bible study question from an Evangelical Christian.
Jesus Christ tells us we must trust God, and trust in him as well, but at the same time, there is a point at which we are not to test the Lord our God. What defines that point for you?

Please note this is a study question...not a personal burning issue. I am not testing God here....some of you assume wrongly this is a personal issue...

Trusting God is like seeing an elephant coming down the street and getting out of the way. Testing God is seeing an elephant coming down the street and not getting out of the way,

You can choose to test God, but it will end up as testing yourself. Meditate/prayer, do mind-body exercises, eat a healthy diet, and contribute good to the world. Doing this will bring you close to God, and give you more trust.

Hi I would say, that you can trust that you don't need to test him.
And I answer that as a sincere honest answer.
Why test someone you trust?
Look at your life & how it is currently, look back for you & see all the good things. Do you seriously believe that God did that for you? Look even at the bad things & how you have been able to move on or get passed them. Did someone in your life help? Do you believe that God put them there to help you?
If so, or at least somewhat--why do you need to "test" him?
For me, I dont need to test his love for me.
I dont need to, because I see through the past that he was there for me.
I think if you are asking this for youself, you need to look into your past & find the answer.

When we act in faith we are trusting God. Faith comes when we hear the revelation (rhema) of God's word by the Spirit (Romans 10:17) and then we act on it. When we act in presumption, that is acting on God's word without the prompting of the Holy Spirit or the rhema, we are testing God. In this instance we are acting without having heard the word of faith but on the basis of our own decision expecting God to come through for us as our servant or as a vending machine.

The line is drawn within your heart. Are you indeed testing God or trusting Him?

Test God? I don't think it is possible. We may test ourselves and our relationship to God, but we can't test God.
