They help people PLAN for parenthood. They do more birth control counseling than abortions.
Stop being stupid and judgmental.

Planned Parenthood's main service is education, followed by providing medical care and low-cost birth control (such as the BCP, IUDs, condoms, etc).
In many places they do not even preform abortions, they don't where I live. If you go in for a pregnancy test they will counsel you on your options if you want and either give you a referral to an OB/midwife for prenatal care, or to an abortion provider for an abortion. Some women of course report feeling pressured one way or the other by the person who is counseling them but I think that has more to do with the individual providing the counseling and the individual receiving the counseling as some women report being pressured to keep the baby and others to abort.
I also know several women who have had OBs pressure them to abort a very much wanted baby. The OB would bring up abortion at each appointment -even sometimes after an abortion is safe. Just because the OB doesn't believe the woman should have another baby -which is far from his/her decision.

Okay - get your head out of you behind. Planned is when YOU plan something or an event. Hence the Planned Parenthood. Believe it or not most people like to plan their families. Gee, I planned mine. And planning is kind of hard to do if you are just trusting the pull out method. And you moron, since females are the ones who live with the crushing poverty, poor jobs, trying to juggle babysitters, raising kids with no help from other parent, etc. then yeah, if they don't want that I am all for it. I really believe that it is a female right, but the father should be given a voice in the choice. Because before it is all done, all you have is abused kids who grow up to be problem kids then NO ONE wants to deal with them or adopt them.

I agree
What part of "sex ed" did this current crop of women miss when they thought the act of sex DIDN'T conceive a child. When you lay with a man, no matter how much protection you use, your still engaging in a act that produces children. I understand completely that some women (and men) aren't ready for parenthood, that's why ADOPTION is available.
Also I wonder how many women who aborted their unborn children were aware they just upped their risk for breast cancer. It's old news, however I just learned of it TODAY. People need to stop relying on mainstream media, and pro abortion groups such as planned parenthood for their info.

I disagree Jennylou: I am adopting, where do you get your information from? We have two boys biologically, but chose to adopt from here on out. We aren't the only ones out there, many GREAT people are willing and wanting to adopt. To say people don't want to adopt is crazy. If you chose to have sex YOU CHOSE TO HAVE CHILDREN!!!! Step up to the plate and take responsibility for your actions, don't hide behind a doctor with a vacuum

well, I think you are wrong about that! They are planned parenthood, for a reason. Abortion IS a woman's right, after all it IS HER body, no one else's. Abortion is not the only service they provide. But it is the only service u seem to think of.

first of all i hate when people think planned parent hood is just for abortions and nothing else. That's just idiotic. They do so much more for woman who can't pay for regular health checkups for woman. They help woman get BC and not just Abortion. So stop being so closed minded and ignorant

Um... "Planned Parenthood" is entirely appropriate, because they want every parenthood to be planned one, not one that was forced on someone. : 0
And... women do CHOOSE to "produce". But if you have it your way, they'll be forced to. Is that what you want?
