Typically, Daylight Savings Time takes affect on the last Sunday in October, however this year, because of a legislation passed in 2005, the switch will take place on Sunday, November 4th at 2 a.m.
According to the National Post, the US Energy Policy Act of 2005 stated that Daylight Savings Time be extended to 34 weeks in an effort to lower energy consumption. The change was set to begin this year.
U.S. advocates believe that this will save up to 100,000 barrels of oil in the US for every day of extra daylight.

Nope, Daylight Saving Time (which is most of the country, BTW) doesn't end until next week. And it's Spring Forward, Fall Back.
