Get another ticket from Chicago to Detroit,
or call the airline and found out if they let you change itinerary. (cost will be involved)
Next time, do not buy on line, travel agency would have done it for you at no or little cost.

If you caught your mistake within 24 hours, some airlines will let you do a full cancellation-check! If they won't or its more than 24 hours after you booked the ticket, you should be able to rebook for $100 plus the difference in fare, if any, between the Chicago fare and the fare to Detroit (if the Detroit fare is lower, even after the fee, they should give you the rest as a flight credit good for 1 year on another ticket).

Where are you leaving from, England? We need to know that and where you purchased it. In the U.S., unless it is an unrestricted, you can't change the destination or the name.
Did you get it from a wholesaler? It also depends on the airline, age of passenger, and a few other things. If it was on Southwest Airlines, a senior fare, then you can change it and get a refund. Need to know more info.

Check the airline's terms and conditions first of all. SOme of them will allow a name change for a fee e.g. £30 maybe. If they do have this policy, post an advert on gumtree.com or something similar. Make it a really good price, you'll be lucky to get 50% of what you paid, but that's better than nothing!

Good luck : )

Hate to tell you but they probably won't even let you change the name on the ticket. More power to you but it depends on how you purchased the ticket and wether you have recieved your electronic or hard copy tickets. Talk to the airline again before you go to the trouble of selling off the tickets and find out whether you can change the name of the ticket holder at all. good luck!

did you pay for it already??? if not just book for a new one.. but if you paid for it already... well, you can not sell that ticket because you can not change the name in the tickect anymore. what you can do is to apply for a refund and book the right one.
