do the chinese people get offended when photos are taken in the streets? would they get angry if they thought they were in the photo?

no. actually, most of them would like to be in the picture. If they are used as background for your photos, you dont need to explain why you need them in the picture but simply ask them for doing you a favor; while if you want them be the subject or key focus, then you probably have to tell them why, otherwise even they would still love to be pictured, they dont know how to cooperate. keep one thing in mind though, the Chinese are very friendly and nice people, particularly to foreigners, so try to communicate with them for anything, I am sure they will do their best if you are understood.

No, quite the opposite. I have had Chinese people grab me and demand to be in photos with me. I hav enever had a problem with street scenes and other than some people asking to be paid for being in your shot, most are agreeable!

No they do not do so in most cases and get photographed quite willingly,however there are many places where they demand money for being photographed and believe me I was coerced to pay 20 Yuans for a photograph I took of an old man in Yangshuo near Guilin !

And if any of them is tipped off to your previous anti-China rants on this board, they'll beat you up for free.
