I agree with you 100%. But I have observed -
1. To show off that one is religious
2. Conditioned mind, feels that is the way
3. Get-togather and pass time
4. Mind looks for external dependency
5. and so on...
I suppose it's subtle/gross greed and fear which brings people to church or temple.

Church is mainly for Absolution and also the Sacraments.
The authority to absolve sins has specifically been given to those called in the ministry of the apostles; "if you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." (John 20:23)
Baptism is best done with as many witnesses as possible because they are supposed to be "teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19)
The Lord's Supper is best done in church because it helps one "examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup." (1 Corinthians 11:28)

We must do things as a group.Jesus said" where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name I am in the midst of them", Why do birds not fly trans-continental solo? There is a greater chance of achieving things in a group.

Real "Church" is the one that built originally by Jesus Christ. If they (Christians) love the Head, that is Jesus, then, they will also must love the Body, that is the Church.
So, that is the reason why we go to the real Church, we "love" Jesus Christ.
