*Breathing a sigh of relief*
I have fed my dogs leftover pork before with no ill effects, i had never thought it was bad for them until i came here! I have read plenty of posts here saying not to feed pork, i assume its because its a rich meat? Thats a relief, because my dogs have a balanced diet and a part of that balance is eating what i eat. I don't give them cooked bones in any size or shape, i kno the dangers. They do get raw chicken necks 2-3 x's a mth. thanku, my dog is loving her food dish right now!!

Re- raspberr.. I don't agree, my girl.. Maltese/Shihtzu, will eat canned, dry dog food, but it makes her vomit if she has more than 3 feeds in a row of it. I think that she has a protein issue with dog food. She gets canned food in moderation and dry dog food is always in her dish for her to pick at, which she does. Her appetite is fine, canned dog food upsets her stomach if she has it every day. As long as you know what NOT to feed your dog for toxic reasons, then a balanced diet is what they must have. My girl LOVES vegetables!!!

I feed my dog a cooked diet and have been doing so for several months. I believe the pork thing is for raw feeders ... meaning you should not feed raw pork but cooked pork is fine

I feed my dog a variety of meats including pork
and he gets a variety of vegetables

he loves his diet and he looks fantastic!

I had heard this before too, for years and years. However, its ok to feed them pork. Just remember, everything in moderation and make sure there are no bones. If I have left overs, because pork is so rich, I mix some in with my dogs regular food. Gives it a flavor boost and he really enjoys it. If you feed to much, it tends to cause the runs, but kept at a decent amount for your dogs size, it should be fine. Go ahead, give him a little treat.

Nothing unless you give the dog too much rich food and it gets gastritis. My dogs have all had cooked pork.

Its mainly the bones they shouldnt eat, they splinter, cooked or raw. dogs should not be fed any cooked bones as they can slpinter and become lodged in the digestive track. A little bit of pork wont hurt

I do not think dogs digest pork well, actually neither do humans. My dog always has gotten sick with it. Its hard to digest.

If properly trimmed and not loaded with spices, no problem. The fat will probably be too rich and the spices to upsetting.
