The human mind is clearly, obviously and profoundly finite.

Though in light of all those who think it's infinite, I'm not sure the same can be said for our egos.

Terrific question!

It is indeed infinite! The greatest good is the knowledge of the union which the mind has with the whole nature... The more the mind has with the whole nature..... The more the mind knows, the better it understands its forces and the order of nature..... The more it understands its forces or strength, the better it will be able to direct itself and lay down the rules for itself...... And the more it understands the order of nature, the more easily it will be able to liberate itself from useless things.. The truth is ...... the human mind is all-embracing.

Thanks for the question. Have a great day!

I believe the human mind is infinite. Our search for knowledge is unquenchable. Nothing in this universe remains locked in mystery with the never-ending curiosity and probe of the human mind. Haven't we got stuck in a plateau in past scientific history and yet moved on with new discoveries and inventions? In the modern world, who wouldn't appreciate this so called hi-tech machines we have without the cumulative knowledge scientists have attained in recent past? And scientific progress never stops going. At one time it was the moon. Next time, maybe the moon will be the staging area for future astronauts or cosmonauts to explore mars and other galaxies. It's happening still. And the search for knowledge will almost certainly cut across the boundaries of the solar system beyond your wildest dreams----past your concept of "finiteness".

I think human mind has enormous reach and capacity, but I suspect it can't be infinite.
Our imagination appears to be totally unbridled and free to tap anything and everything, and yet it comes a cropper to understand absolute nothingness or timelessness or how can 'something' come to be in the first place at the very beginning etc. etc. Similarly, it seems to me that our mind is also bound by time... at any single point in time, it seems capable of dwelling on one thought only....... even though the thinking seems to be infinitely fast, it still seems to consume time, however little, and therefore can not escape time boundaries.

There are obvious boundaries within which our mind seems to exist and operate and hence I am unable to see it as being infinite, even if we were to assume that it is not bound by our physical brain.

No, as it is limited by the cessation of its existence in death. The assertion that the human mind is infinite reveals one of the strange qualities of modern philosophical inquiry, in which a lack of metaphysical clarity leads to the applying to human nature the qualities of a divine nature which were asserted in Christian theology. A human nature (with its capacity to think) is inherently finite and contigent.

I don't know - about infinite - but we humans are one of the few that creates whole realities.

Once we had demon possesion as a rule of medical observation and that was the believed reality The devil was responsible for everything before the church decided it should be god that was responsible for everything

We lived in that reality

At another point it was quite ethical for one man to own another and common sense dictated women should not vote etc

We lived in that reality as well - Sex has been somthing to be truely ashamed of then to be embraced and now it is a tool of the corperation to sell me beer and other "necesary" things

These are all creations of the human mind and the enforcement of those creations - We as a group show ourselves both limitless and quite rigid for a look into the minds of men one should look at society as the mirror of the handy work

Right now there are groups of people talking about a character they have never met as if he was in the room with them - They in all ways act and think as if they had met him and talked with him - but so far no pictures of the famous jesus - same for Santa which we openly acknowledge does not exist but then pretent he does

Enter the mondane period of life - Work - we say we all want to work confuseing the facts - We have to work - when the shift is up we are out of there - But then we say we need a specific product and clearly we want that and do not need it - Subtle changes but ones we have had suggested to us and have accepted as reality

With these shifts possible now look at our ability to manipulate the phisical world - it is awe strikeing and taken for granted I am typeing this out in my kitchen likely thousands of miles away from you

The telephone the TV and all the other appliances in my home would have gotten me burned at the stake only 10 generations ago

The mind may be limitless but we ourselves become so rigid that we put limits on it - Or at least more limits on it than is nesesary Some describe us as magical beings and if we define magic as it works but I do not know how - Then yes we are

That said - we do not allow ourselves this thought anymore and are loseing some of our "magic" The idea that society is what it is by phisical absolute laws is entrenched in us more now than ever

Martin Luther appears to have believed it was in flux and that a change of perception changing reality was possible - Look at the changes he did effect because of that - This has dropped from our consiousness - No one asks anymore what sort of society do you want to live in

In short we can and do create and recreate everything from us (are we animals space people or gods created special group) and act in accordance We manipulate the world with all the latitude we give ourselves and yet are prone to crashing into certain other realities from time to time - calling us to believe there is somthing outside ourselves that is undeniable - we search for that instead of embracing the magic and accepting it -

How far we can go is still up in the air - We have never let ourselves try and have consistantly shot killed stabbed or burned alive those who have

Good question. I think so. I don't think we can overload it. Sometimes we try to feed it too much information at one time. If we slow down we can absorb as much as can be offered. Our minds are like a file cabinet. We store trivial information in one drawer...important information in another. It's all accessible..you just need to know where to look.

Our imagination is infinite but our time here is finite. So infinite possibilities are limited by finite time frame. Wish we could someday transfer our imaginations to our children.

Dig deeper, see if it is sending you signals designed for inifinite hoping across infinite nodes spanning an infinite neural network, or is it not really doing so.
