Well, of course, it was before technology took over our lives - computers, mobile phones, texting, ipods etc. Life had a slower pace. Just recently I was telling my 8 year old granddaughter about my childhood - no electricity upstairs, no bath, no phone and no tele. She looked at me incredulously. Hey, those were the good old days, or were they?

Hello,
When you are in your first 25 years it seems that time does go much slower. A summer vacation seemed to last forever and one week seemed like a month. Ten years was like a life time. From 25 - 50 time seems to accelerate much faster and the years just fly by far more quicker than you thought. I suppose this occurs since we get into more of a regimented schedule as adults with constant deadlines and times to monitor and the busier and more committed you get, the quicker the time flies.
Well that said, I cannot say I wasn't warned about this by my parents and grand parents.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

Well we are more aware of time as we age. Society has become more stressed. We smell the roses less. We want more. If we dont have more we strive to have more and are so busy racing around trying to keep up time is ticking away. In your twenties you want to do as much as you can, in your thirties you want to get as much as you can, in your forties you are so busy with kids jobs etc you dont notice time, in your fifties time you know time is limited and so you try to whallow but you notice all the other ages racing racing accumulate, work work work...and suddenly in your fifties you realise what is important. Beauty around you, love that you feel, people, animals nature,,and all that you have raced to accumulate now seems to glutter your mind and you want to simplify to go along with your mind that wants to slow down and savor. Age does us good. In alot of ways. So yes I think the same as you do.

"Old" clocks were based on a mechanical system that you wound up, the tick came from the release mechanism.
Modern clocks are useally battery driven motors, the "tick" is added for effect.
