(Bj)....My late father was on a cocktail of different meds for his arthritis, gall stones, heart and goodness knows what else. His various specialists had changed the dosage of his meds but not checked with each other that it was ok with the other ones. He became very violent and was muddled for almost a year. He had load of tests to try to find out what was going on until it was discovered that he had a drug imbalance. Poor old thing had suffered tremendously due to the incompetence of the so called experts.

All the time nowadays.
I have diabetes, my previous doctor was always telling me how well I was doing, he was really encouraging and positive with the accent on healthy eating and lifestyle, the only drug was the one to help control the glucose levels.
The current doc is the opposite, telling me I can look forward to a rapid decline in my health, with a diet of drugs, very negative and now I'm in danger of believing her, despite the fact that my cholesterol, kidney and liver tests etc always come back normal. The blood pressure rises when I have to visit the doctor and goes up further when she suggests yet more pills - just in case. I recently had a small blip with my glucose levels and I swear that doc jumped with glee because something had changed slightly!
Just give me a daily ration of garlic, apple, oats, olive oil and positive thinking.

It's called polypharmacy and it's a scam. You take one drug for your initial problem, then take half a dozen to manage the side effects of the first drug. The big pharmaceutical companies develop new drugs at astronomical costs, then have 17 years to make back their expenditures. After that time lapse, Walgreens and your brother- in -law can make the same drug, generic, without copyright infringement.

LOL - [although it isn't really that funny, come to think of it!]
I have been on an antibiotic recently and the side effects and possible allergic reactions have just created one problem after another! So I'm just trying to hang in there with no additional meds....taking enough as it is!
Reading those various contraindications on the prescription literature they give you is enough to make you go into cardiac arrest!

That's so true, many meds have side effects worse than your original condition. I took cholesterol meds and that happen to me. I got violently ill, we thought I was having a stroke. The tests said my cholesterol level was 225 and to take the meds for 6 wks and get retested. I never made it through a wk, but went back and got tested and my level was 129. Then I told the Dr, I didn't take the meds and I'm not taking them anymore.

That's VERY familiar! So many times, the side effects of prescription drugs are worse than the condition the drugs are given for.
There was one commericial on TV for a prescription drug that stated, among other side effects, "flu". NOT flu-like symptoms. It can actually give you the FLU. How can it do that unless it contains a flu virus in the pills? Every time my husband and I saw that commercial, we'd speculate as to just how many pills they injected that flu virus into. LOL

Not personally, but the commercials for drugs do just that. For some of the most minor medical problems they tell you it can lead to various other things taking their pill that are much worse than what your taking the pill for.

Yes!
I used to look after a lady that had to take a huge list of tablets every day, most of them were to sort out the side-affects of the tablet that she started with.

Yes, Grodno, the side effects are sometimes worse than the illness!
How about the fat blockers that give you "anal" leakage. Well, I would rather be overweight than have to walk around with poopy pants! I am sure I would get more stares being thin with stains on me drawers that I would get being overweight

My doctor was nicer to me. He went from treating for the cholesterol right into diabetes. I figure he was saving me some money by not going around full circle. LOL
