People seem to be putting more emphasis into parties and events to observe Halloween than even into Christmas. There's more clip art and other graphical elements on the Internet for Halloween than other holiday. Halloween used to be just a minor observance and mostly for children, now it's like a major holiday and even adults dress up in costumes. Why this shift?

Halloween has never been a minor observance nor does it have anything to do with satanism. It is a pagan festival adopted by the Christians so that folks wouldn't get upset about having to give up another party night if they became Christian.
All over the world people participate in events for the 31st Oct and then for 1st November. In Mexico they remember their dead. I remember being in Mexico City on that date and seeing the beautiful pictures made on the pavements from flower petals.
Halloween has nothing to do with satan or the devil, it is about remembering those we have lost and making sure their souls know it's ok to move on and be happy. Just as we should try to do.
Why did it get so much bigger? Personally I blame ET the movie, following that movie release in the UK is when I recall people suddenly starting to go trick or treating in vast numbers. I suspect cable and satelite TV also helped. Kids are now exposed to loads more shows from the US where Halloween has been a big thing.

Cause Christianity is out of popularity. Satanism is on the upswing. Christmas is a Christian holiday. Halloween celebrates Satanism.
