My PC has 128 ram. I want to upgrade it to 256 ram.
Do I buy a new 128 ram and add it on my PC ? Or Do I buy a new 256 ram and remove my old 128 ram and replace it with a new 256 ram ?

Thank you in advance

Either will work but 256mb plus your old 126mb would be best.

256 is TOO SMALL for todays applications.

XP will just barley run on 256.

If u are till using 98 - 256 is ok. You will not be able to find a 128 ram stick. Get a 256, but make sure it is the right type. SDRAM most likley with two guide slots.

If you are running XP get a 512 stick.

IF you plan on running vista - buy a new PC, your old pc will not Run Vista.

If you have extra slot on your PC's motherboard for RAM then add new 128 MB RAM otherwise replace the existing with 256 MB RAM.

It is simply better if you buy another 256 MB RAM because in most cases, if you buy another 128 MB RAM, it might not match your previous ram, thus when both of these are operated, it would result to a bad performance on your computer.........

It really depends on how many memory slots your motherboard will accept. I think it is really difficult to find ram in 128mb sticks these days. Usually a min of 256mb. 256mb really isn't enough for most modern operating systems therefore I think you would be better off getting one stick of 512mb ram. Just make sure you get the right ram for your motherboard.

It all really depends on your budget and a couple other factors. If you are willing to spend the money for a 256MB memory stick, I would recommend it. For one, it'll keep an available slot open if you decide to upgrade again in the future. It will also reduce the chance that your old stick will fail on you.

If you buy another 128MB stick to add to your current one, it's my belief that it would be faster than one 256MB stick, because you have data running to 2 sticks instead of one.

Given that, it's all up to you.

If your motherboard has the space for another 128, then it would be the cheaper option.
If not, you will probably have to swap it for the 256.
Still depends on your motherboard.

Go to Crucial.com and have the site do a scan of your computer. They will tell you if you can add RAM or if you need to pull what you've got and upgrade all of your RAM. I have used Crucial for all of my computer RAM upgrades and they have been great.

I definitely recommend getting MORE than 256MB of ram. Depending on what you want to do you will want anywhere from 512MB-2GB.

128MB ram is rather hard to get nowadays, so i recommend replacing both of your strips of ram.

I would recommend getting a 1X1GB strip of ram from amazon for £35

You will notice a performance boost imediately!
