As my friend told me the HP Pavillion dv5000t and 8000t have the same motherboards which is surprising for both a 15 inch and a 17 inch. Anyhow, my friend told me to literally dump this motherboard, and get a new one which would contain a GeForce 7600. Would that be possible?

And to people say that motherboards are expensive. XD The motherboards seems like theyre all on sale from $200 - $400. Not as expensive as $600 at least though.

just make sure the motherboard is compatible with your processor and ram speeds. you can usually check out the compatibility info at the websites of the mobo companies.

Doubtful. Laptops have a completely different layout and component mounts than a desktop. If you open one you will see they are designed with the RAM slots on the bottom for addition, and the heatsinks with fans are located for optimal cooling with the slotposition. Most chips are SMT without socketing. You can get add-on video cards for laptops if you want to change the type or speed. They are higher priced than the internals. but cheaper than what you suggested.

What you want is easier done in desktop PCs rather than in laptops. BUT changing the motherboard is possible at a huge expense.
