The only one on is in this room, I can't turn it off.
Because I'm afraid of the dark.
Unless you want to come hold my hand,....no that wouldn't work, then I couldn't type.
I'll just leave on the light.

OK I agree that by switching off one light some infinitely small effect is there which is intangible. If it is an incandescent lamp it serves the purpose. If it is a fluorescent lamp the effect is nil.
what about the smoke and fumes let out into atmosphere around the clock by cement factories, refineries. other industries, refrigerators? How many lamps be equal to one factory heat let into atmosphere?
How many Auto rickshaws, cars .lorries.trucks, ambulances, two wheelers etc or on road?what is the heat through their exhaust that is let into the atmosphere?
Let us stop using car for everything.Let us walk and reduce use of two wheelers.
Air plains exhaust, trains smoke etc are causing havoc.
Please see all these factors too.
Try some other angle please.we will too be thinking.

Ok. I'll turn off the lights. But I won't use one piece of toilet paper everytime I go to the bathroom.

One U.S. politician suggested we as Americans should start following this "latest trend."

Are you kidding me? Sure global warming is happening, but not everything we do is gonna save us from being fried.

We shouldn't degrade ourselves to the point of the Middle Ages. But turning off lights in this case is a legitimate means of conservation.

Kudos!

I'm all for conservation and responsible consumerism, but this global warming thing has gotten out of hand. People are getting smug about the environment...it's crap. Take care of yourself, take care of your world. You are not better than anyone else. You do not know what is going on with the world and how things are really interacting, and the truth is that we won't really know the effects of what we are doing for generations, so be responsible, but get over yourself!

Half the time I don't even use a light unless I have to. Everyone should also switch to the swiggly light bulbs. Yes they take a second to come on, but eventually you get used to it.

I hear ya sister! I'm forever going behind my husband turning off lights that don't need to be on!

I do keep a nightlight in the bathroom though, but it has a sensor & only comes on when it's dark.
