i have a hauwei WA1003A (A/B/G modes supported) router. It has only one antenna for wifi.
i assumed lately that only one connection is possible at any instant, but to my surprise when i tried to connect two laptops, both were connected to internet. does anyone know how many maximum simultaneous connections are possible?

Most wireless equipment can handle up to 20 or so machines wirelessly.

The wireless router is probably also operating as a DHCP server. The DHCP server generally has a range of IP addresses that it can assign (for example 192.168.1.100 through 192.168.1.200) This example range would give you 101 IP addresses that could be assigned by the router. That would limit the number of DHCP clients (the number of laptops for example) to 101.

Yeah, like he said, around 20. However, the more that you have, the less the quality of the connection. If you have a lot connected, consider getting a wifi\broadband booster. To look one up, just type in "booster" at circuitcity.com or bestbuy.com or walmart.com, and look in the networking section.
