I was outsourced out of one job, was retrained in another career and then took over a year to find a new job even with excellent grades and credentials due to outsourcing!

Outsourcing came about because of the growing greed in the USA. Outsourcing is done for one reason only. money. How many of you have bought a new computer & needed tech support? I would say, quite a few. Have any trouble understanding the Indian on the other end? I have. Very frustrating. I called the manufacturer & complained, loudly. They gave me a phone number of a REAL American. (Sorry, I got sidetracked)! Not only corporare America, but the people, as a whole, became greedy. I was a truck driver all my life. Never had to fear about job loss. Now, with the advent of Mexican trucks being allowed to travel the US hyways, that fear is now very real. My point, just because you are secure in your job now, I wouldn't be too smug. Tomorrow it might all change!

I've lost 2 Information Technology jobs to Outsourcing already. The job I have now is heading that way as I type. As you can see, I'm not that busy. I sit here for 12 hours, maybe actually do 1 hour worth of work. The rest of the time I spend reading, browsing the internet or playing computer games till I'm brain dead. Its boring as hell*!
And every week, there is one or two small tasks less that we have to do. We're begging for something to do to keep busy or just stay awake.
So, naturally, and eventually I won't have a job... .again.

Outsourcing must be eliminated in order to protect the jobs of people.

I have lost IT jobs too - the type that are drudge work. The high value ones which involve innovation remain America's bread and butter.
