I need to learn how to smile more often and be happier with myself. (not self esteem really, just life in general) Any suggestions on how to not let everyday stuff get you down?

Everyone is different in this area... I love music, writing,drawing, reading uplifting quotes. You honestly have to remember that life is what you make it, and everything in your life COULD be worse. Its not about how much money you have or lack, its not about how smart you are, its about how you feel about yourself! You are your own worst enemy if you chose to be. Just chose not to be

Laugh more, and music is good, but these things provide temporary happiness. They are just band-aids for the real problem. Most times when one is unhappy with life it comes from within. Here's something better.

Challenge yourself and win
Create something of value or provide a valuable service.

Think about what makes YOU happy, then spend a little time every day working on that. Do you have any hobbies, like to write, play music, teach others... Whatever? Find "your calling" and make it your profession. Dont give up. It will take some time but you will see the more you work towards doing what you love, you will be more happy because you are discovering the life you were meant to live.

It may sound cheesy but its true, and its very achievable. People are meant to do what makes them happy, and I don't mean watching football and drinking beer. Everyone has something, some talent or passion.

Wouldn't the world be great if we all did what we love? Wouldn't we work harder and achieve more? Wouldn't we all be happier?

Look at life objectively. You cannot prevent the past. Think of ways to improve the future and test new ideas. Also develop an "important" distraction from life, such as art, like playing a musical instrument or painting.

Have a PMA Positive Mental Attitude. Nothing is worth getting upset about. Just smile and be happy, laugh. Be optimistic.

Things that make me happy:
*time off from work
*children's laughter
*comedy shows
*a special dinner or dessert on the weekends
*dinner or lunch with a friend
*puppies
*knowing I have a family that cares about me
*shopping
*giving/making people gifts
*people like you

smile more even to strangers...
appreciate life more...
be thankful of what you have...
...of how lucky you are...
...look at the skies...
...watch the stars and the moon...
...surround yourself with beauty...
make your life more beautiful
beauty is inspirational you know,
people are drawn to what is beautiful...

u gotta see element of fun in daily stuff...daily stuff may be monotonous and boring....or may be a really difficult situation(in wich case u obviously cant find fun)....but other than that try to find somethng funny and laugh abt it.....be happpy always and make this happiness contagious which will really help u....cos environment of fun really helps!
