NO. the Yankees will always be the "evil empire." that name doesnt go away for the Yankees. they still have 26 championships and Boston only have 7.
and the Yankees have a owner who demands championships every year adding pressure to the players and manager. the Red Sox are a more relaxed club house. the players can have hair down to their shoulders and on their face.
the Yankees organization is too uptight

Well the Yankees are still the evil empire, here's not much of a difference between the teams. Both are at the top in payroll, both are centered in high profile media markets, both have some annoying transplant fans or bandwagoneers, and both teams get treated like they are the only teams in baseball who count. I really don't like Boston.

See what a lot of money and good management bring you... CHAMPIONSHIPS. All those years of whining about "The Curse" instead of going out and buying good players (gee, sounds like the YANKEES game plan). Yes, the Red Sox have turned to the dark side and are now one win away from another World Series championship. The tables are turned and the Yankees are looking up at the Red Sox. It may be this way for quite a long time, now that TORRE is out of the picture. I have a feeling that it will be quite a while before the Yankees are on par with the Red Sox. I hate to say it Yankee fans, but it is going to be a miserable few seasons ahead. Much like the suffering of Boston's fans over the last century. Hopefully we won't have to wait as long for our next taste of champagne in October...

The Red Sox are a great team. They are a team everyone loves (well except maybe yankees and their fans). The will never be an "evil empire"

There are 3 branches to the evil empire: the Yankees, the Red Sox and the Mets.

They have too many bandwagon fans to be the most hated team. Frankly, they are probably the most loved team.

In 2004, every besides Cardinal/NYY fans we're rooting for them. They were excited to see if they could beat the odds and break the curse.

This year, they are even better.
You can't really hate the team; they are literally all goofball. Seriously. I mean Papelbon has dance offs in his spandex on the field.

Also, many people expected them to win against the Rockies anyways, because the Rockies don't have much experience.

The only reason people would hate the sox would be because they are jealous and that's just stupid. Sox fans waited 86 years for 1 effing title, I think we can win 2 between a few years without people crying about it.

People are always going to hate the Yankees the most because they are evil.

For all you idiots who point to the Red Sox' payroll and scream bloody murder how's this for size?

The integral parts of the Red Sox' lineup (Ortiz, Ramirez, Beckett, Okajima, Papelbon, Lowell, Pedroia, Youkilis, and I'll throw in Ellsbury even though he's technically not a regular) COMBINED are about $50 million. Add in Schilling and Dice-K to make it $70 million. Underperformers(!) Drew and Lugo bump it up to $85 million. Aww, Wakefield and Varitek add only $15 million more, I'm trying to find more money to add to this list but it just isn't there. Maybe I'll put in Clement who hasn't played a game in two years but it taking up $10 million, or add in Boston's expensive bench players who really don't do much but pinch hit here and there and fill in during injuries...but I won't.

Let's look at the New York Yankees' lineup, where Jeter, Giambi and A-Rod together make $60 million, never mind Rivera, Mussina, Pettite, Clemens, Posada, Damon, Matsui, and Abreu, who add on about another $110 million, for a grand whopping total of $170 million.

Come back and talk about the Red Sox 'buying' World Series when their stars comes even close to making as much as the Yankees' stars.

Idiots.

Next!

I love seeing all the Red Sox fans in denial. They have become what they have hated for so long.

Bweaing.....you have to include the $50 million posting fee for Dice-K. It's not counted as part of the payroll, but the money had to come from somewhere within the organization. And funny how you leave out the $20 million plus a year that Manny is making. And despite what you think, the Yankees have had contributing players who were not breaking the bank too. How about Scott Brosius, Jim Leyritz, Chien-Ming Wang, Tino Martinez, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrara just to name a few.
