I think that it is more fantasy. More about Myth and Magic, than Science and Technology.

There are a few die-hard science fiction fans that would burn someone for heresy if, they ask a question like this you know! :p Harry Potter is 100% fantasy, it's distinguishes itself from most fantasies (like 'The Lord of the RIngs') by taking place in modern times and, in what is suppose to be "the real world".

"Snow White" is a fantasy, isn't it? "Harry Potter" does not involve any science at all, but magic. Swishing wooden sticks is definitely not science fiction. Therefore, it is fantasy.

Fantasy. There needs to be some sort of science (real or made up) for it to be Sci Fi and we don't have that in Harry Potter.

i would say urban fantasy as it takes place in Modern day England. Science fiction usually is characterized by the by word science.

Definitely Fantascience! The Science of Fantasy! And the movies are superbly fantascientific!
Haha! Don't mind my nonsense! But I'd love to have one of those flying broomsticks!

Definitely Fantasy... but my husband argues it could be science fiction because of the levitation, agriculture etc etc etc etc... depends on how much "outside the box" you want to think! :)
