Life is perfection. The loss of any perfection is death of that life, though the other perfections may persist.
For example: void has the perfection of comprehended uniformity of non-existence.
Light has the perfection of differentiation, it distinguishes itself from void. Later this distinction is manifested in the four natural forces of, gravity, magnetism, strong and weak nuclear forces in material reality.
material reality has the perfection of elemental forces contained in structural movements. This leads to the self organism developing in plants.
Plants have the added perfection of growth in various degrees. Theirs is the beginning of self defined structure to know it environment.
Animals add the perfection of sensual perceptions and reactions. Animals fulfill the plants life of self organization [growth], and perception [sensation], and this develops full instinctual, and trainable movements.
Humans have the potential perfection of comprehending realities not perceptible to the sense organs. Invisible and undetectable realms of science are brought to light by thought alone.
Once this final human development has occurred the human limitations must be left behind, and something Else must entirely take over, for we have come to our limits, and to go beyond we must die in some way. Just as the light becomes matter, matter the plant, plant the animal, the unintellectual human-animal into fully, uniquely human, and so on.
It is evident, up until the truly human thoughts of the imperceptible, all the reality which is known is of the phenomenal universe, and its life is entirely relative, one degree to another, one life to another. If the thoughts dwell on the perceptible, we know even animals have this capacity, and thus they are only relative thoughts, they have no absolute reality. Thus any thought which can be said to be above the animals archetype, is in need of being eternal, and independent of the phenomenal universe.
Thus human life is only found in eternally perfect thought, all else below is of the animal and material perfections, and is thus subject to transmutation, or death, relatively speaking.
Therefore to have an eternally objective, and discerning, mind, even if this world were to pass away, is life to humanity; but, otherwise we are animals, and have the life and death of an animal which perfections exists in its efforts towards self preservation of its only life as an individual. While the eternal mind seeks death from this world because it is bondage to ephemeral, and individualistic reality...
God bless.

Technically I think life is the state of being alive. To be alive you have to breathe suitably oxygenated air, eat, drink, and keep yourself at the right temperature.
But really you need to get out there and enjoy yourself, live a life that you are proud of. Life can be as boring or exciting as you make it.

life is the chance to gain knowledge and wisdom through experience. the spirit needs an opportunity to gain knowledge. the human spirit wants... needs to experience everything it can to satisfy itself.
most people believe that life is but one chance. if this is your only chance to experience love, happiness, sadness, dancing, rain, drinking, rollerblading, reading, skydiving, rock climbing, marriage, swimming.... don't you want to capitalize on that?? wouldn't you do anything to secure that ONE chance and use it to the best of your ability?
