I went to the doctor last Monday at that time I was 10weeks pregnant and the doctor said that was the same as 2 months 2 week but according to my pregnancy book you are in your 3rd month between 9 and 13 weeks because pregnancy months are not always 4 weeks. I have also read this on most web site I have visited. Is my doctor wrong? Also I tried to correct her but she made me feel really dumb and told me I was wrong.

you are in your 3rd month, most pregnancy sites go off the lunar months which are alittle different. the easiest way is estimate 4 1/2 wks for each month so at 9 wks you are going into your 3rd month, however your fetus's age is only 8 wks so that would make your 2nd month and 2nd wk approx. Make sense?

You are in your 3rd month the baby is in its 2nd thats why weeks is much easier to calculate then months.

If she said 10 weeks I think that is exactly what she meant. I think they go by weeks and not months. I think she was just doing a simple conversion by assuming that a month is roughly 4 weeks, although 4 weeks is 28 days and most months are 30 or 31 days. Since the last 2 months were 61 days, 10 weeks would technically be 2 months, 1 week, and 2 days.

I think being in your 3rd month means it is more than 2 months but not more than 3 months. Since 2 months can be anywhere from 59-62 days (and 60-62 days if one of the months isn't February), and 9 weeks is 63 days, they are approximating and saying that 9 weeks is slightly more than 2 months so that means you are in your 3rd month at that point.

So maybe your doctor's conversion from weeks to months was slightly off, but if it is more than 2 months that means you are in your 3rd month, so what the doctor said didn't contradict the book. Hope all goes well with the baby.

Youre both right. For dating purposes your doctor is right. Doctors go off of 4 weeks being a month. You are also right though. The books go off a month being 30-31 days, and your doctor works off the assumption of a month being 28 days.
