I currently had an interview with the guy from Devry. I liked the part that basically it gets me in and out of school with my bachelors in accounting in about 3 years instead of the longer time in traditional colleges. I was wondering is Devry a good choice or not? I am almost sure thats what i want to do so will it be a good choice? or will it just be a waste of my time. Would University of Houston be a better choice rather than Devry even though it would take longer? I know Devry is accredited as a university so is there any difference? Devry seems good with the fact that classes are smaller and more hands on applied learning? Any help or advice would be great help. Thanks

You can do the same 3-year thing at U Houston or anywhere else. All you have to do is take a full load every semester and don't take a summer break.

The DeVry bachelor's is going to require the same number of credits as any other bachelor's - they just run you through with more classes per year than the typical college student takes.

18 hrs per semester fall and spring with 9 hours may/summer is 45 hours per year. A bachelor's takes 120 hours. 120/45 = 2.667 (3) years. That works at every college in the country. Don't let someplace like DeVry convince you that they have a unique idea... ☺

I would be very careful in taking classes through Devry for an accounting degree. If you ever decide to take the CPA exam, there is a limitation on how many online accounting classes you can apply to take the exam. I believe it is like a 15 hour limit for online accounting classes, which is five classes.
Honestly, I don't know too much about Devry, I always thought it was a joke. If I were hiring someone, I would definitely pick the UH graduate over Devry.
Others are right, you can also get a degree through UH in three years. You just have to take extra hours.

Personally,I would say take your time and go to the University of Houston. Not saying Devry is a bad school, but I think you'll strive better with your courses not squeezed into 3 years.

Go with University of Houston. If you live in Houston it will give you much more creditbility especially if you want accounting.

Sure Devry is accreditable but still looked down on as opposed to UH
