Why did it come as a surprise that your spouse asked you for a divorce? Were other family members shocked of the divorce? Where did things go wrong?

Please share a story with lots of detail because I got the time to listen.

Please write more than 5 sentences. Please do not answer this question with, "we have been happily married for 7 years now", because if you look closely at the question you will notice that the question if geered towards couples that were given the SURPRISE of DIVORCE. I am doing research on love.

Thank you for respecting my wishes AND answering my question.

I actually surprised my ex by asking for a divorce. I can't tell you exactly where "things went wrong" because it was a slow process over several years. I think it actually shocked our children more. We both found new significant others with in a month and he remarried very quickly. I am still with by boyfriend and we plan on getting married next year. I guess we were both ready to start new lives pretty quickly.
