I'm an artist, i recently brought some gold leaf, and i want to applied onto my canvas. Well, since they are so fragile, every time i "carefully" picked them off to place it onto the canvas, they break. What is the best method of picking up and placing without breaking. I asked my studio mates, but they have no idea which is the best way...help me

If I need to use a full sheet without it tearing then I take the bottom layer of paper with it. Then I just slide the gold leaf off where I need it.

Use a damp brush. The gold leaf will stick to it, and you can gently lift it and apply it to your canvas.
