ummm i screamed for my mum and she came running to the toilet! ahahaha!
white discharge is normal, though you have to be careful to clean your privates cuz yeast infections can occur. this is when the discharge turns a different color, maybe yellow and can start smelling like cheese. itchiness is also a symptom. but again, the white discharge is normal.
also, the stickiness can be just sweat, because it gets sweaty down there as well. so that's normal. just change you underwear daily or a couple of times a day.
it's not really that scary...if you're not scared of blood...which i sorta have a fear of...most embarsassing moment for me was fainting in health class because the teacher was talking about periods....hehe

Hi, I had the same questions as you when I was in 6th grade. I am now in 7th. I started my period when I was almost 12. My mom and sister started when they were 11. Yes, you need to tell your mom FIRST. To tell her, well heres what I said " Mom, Annie is sleeping over for a few days" you see, we came up with a "code" name so nobody else would know what we were talking about. Yes, it is totally normal to get pubic hair and breasts and discharge. I was in the same posistion as you. I had discharge since mid 6th grade, and HATED it! I received my period about 8 months after discharge and puberty. I am not trying to be gross, but when your period is about to come, your discharge will be mixed with black stuff. About 4 days before my period, I get the discharge with what looks like black stuff mixed in it. But really, the 3rd or 4th time you have your period, it is nothing to worry about. Just make sure your book bag has a few pads in it in case you start at school. It may seem scary now, but trust me. It is not. Plus, you will find out that a lot of girls are going through the same thing as you. Actualy most of the girls have already started there period. Any further questions that I did not cover in here, just email me.

Thanks for reading, and I hoped I helped!

Oh ya, everybody is scared there first time.........don't worry. Everything is going to be fine. :)

First thing to do: relax!
The discharge is normal. It is likely that you will start in the next year or so, but there is no certain way to tell. I told my friend first just becasue she had already started and I was at school and unsure about what to do. But if I had been around my mother I would have told her first, probably. I knew it was going to be coming soon so I just flat out told my mother. We had talked about it before. If you haven't with your mother, you should. You might have some cramps before you start, but you might not. It is different for every girl. Starting now I would be prepared because the worst is when you are caught off gard. Your cycle will probably be irregular for a while, even up to a year or so, so it probably wont come at the same time every month.
I hope I helped at least a little!
Just relax! This is all normal and something every girl goes through!

Are you having sex yet? First, I would just tell my mom first straight said that my period had started can you help me get through it. You bff don't really need to know things like that unless you are having sex. But when I had my period for the first time I had cramps and I hated it and I felt hot and cold at different times. I also had alot of sweating. I was always sleeping didn't feel like doing nothing. Then the next couple of days were cool because I didn't have cramps that were too bad so I just relaxed took some tylenol or aleve and they went away. But your period is the most precious moment in your life because you are now becoming a woman.

Don't worry about the white discharge, it's normal. Just make sure that you take a bath or shower every day. When you period starts you will probably not know until it does. My daughters kept sanitary pad secretly stored in their purses or backpacks, so that they would be ready. Tell your mom when you start. She will be very helpful. If you start at school, don't be afraid to tell your teacher or school nurse. They are very used to girls going through this exciting time. In our family, my daughters celebrated their first periods by getting their ears pierced. Maybe you could do something special with your mom like that. Best wishes, this is something that all of us girls have gone through and survived.

I had mine in 4th grade. *shudders. I didn't tell her, she found out. I was in school but I didn't know I already had my period, then when I got home and changed, my mom was taking out the laundry and she found out. So yeah. Then she explained it and how to wear a napkin blahblah and I was crying =)) Sometimes there aren't signs when you're going to have your period but sometimes, when the "discharge" becomes sort of brown, it's coming. Tell your mom first! If you're not exactly the bold person who goes straight ahead and tell it directly, maybe you should like, quietly say it ALONE with your mom with your head down and go "Mom, I have it". Vague isn't it? :)) That's how we are at school. "I'm crabby 'cause I have it today" HAHA well anyway If you're not sure when it's going to happen, pack some extra underwear and napkins in your toiletry bag in your locker. Tell your mom first, then your bff =) But if you don't want to tell your bff that's fine. I was really ashamed when i got mine, I didn't tell any of my friends. HELLO? 4th grade! I was so young. So I just told them when they got their period too :)) Personally, I hate periods. Some people get menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea. Luckily I don't. =) It comes every month if you're a regular. I'm irregular, sometimes it comes 3 months after or whatever. Good luck! Take care of your body ;)

Hey. Your period is nothing to fret over. It sucks sometimes to have it, but its nothing bad. Um...you usually get your first period 2 years after your breasts start to develope and you start getting pubic hair. The white discharge is completely natural, and all girls get it...even if it is a little gross. I would tell your mother first because she will always be able to help you understand things better, where your bff might be just as confused as you. You can always tell your bff too. Good luck with everything. You'll be fine.

The discharge is normal. Maybe you'll want to wear unscented panty shields to be more comfortable?

There's no way to say when it will come. My daughter's came at 14, mine at 13, my mother's at 12, my sister's at 16.

As to who to tell first, tell whoever you want, whoever's available. It's normal to be a bit excited, and maybe even feel a little sick to your stomach.

One of the hardest things about a first period, as I recall, and my daughter reminded me, is that you're so used to the discharge and the period feels pretty much the same way. Only the period will go through your clothes, whereas discharge pretty much won't, and it's white/clear anyway. That's where a panty shield might make you feel more secure and comfortable. My daughter wore them since she was 11.

the discharge is normal, and all women should have it. you can tell whoever you mom or bff is more convenient. if you're at school when you first get it, then it's most likely you'd tell your friend. but eventually, tell you mom, because she will be the one teaching you everything about periods. and you can be blunt about it too, she's your mom, and she knows what you're going through because she's been there, it's completely okay to tell her all your feelings and inquiries about it.

it was very awkward for me when i got mine, because i had it really early (5th grade) and at that time, my boobs and pubic hair didn't even come yet! but yes, i found my mom the best teacher and person to confide in, just because none of my friends had it yet when i did.

your period is nothing to worry about! you sound like you're stressing too much! especially when you get the hang of it (ti's not hard at all) it'll become second nature to you1

good luck! and congrats on your start of womanhood!

When i got my period, i had just woken up, and the first thing i did was go to my mom. Moms know these things. They can help! How i told my mom was pretty simple. I just walked up and was like "Mom...I got my period" If you want, tell your bff too. I like haven't actually told anyone other than my mom that i have my period, but lots of my friends know. I was kinda sensitive about it at first, but now, i know that lots of my friends have it and it doesn't matter anymore. Just relax about it. It's not that big of a deal. Just keep some extra pads in your backpack or locker so you'll be prepared
