When I was little {early 1980's}, I remember hearing the CCS cover version of Whole Lotta Love used as title music for Top Of The Pops. Every so often, the original, and Stairway to Heaven would be played on the radio.

But we never owned any Led Zeppelin albums.
I didn't own any music albums of my own until I was 13
{my dad had moved out, taking all his CDs with him}.

When I was about 15 / 16, I was given two things ~ a certain amount of money, and a HMV catalogue. So many CDs to choose from! But I was determined to buy a Led Zeppelin album, and decided to buy the Remasters.

WOW!!! The CD was on permenant repeat for at least a week. But, I didn't expand my collection until about 5 years ago, when I asked people to buy me I, II, and III. My dad then gave me his copy of Physical Graffiti {I got into Zep before my dad did!}, which he had bought for Kashmir ~ it was used as a remixed theme for the Football {Soccer} World Cup a few years ago.

About 2 years / 18 months ago I completed my collection with IV {Zozo}, Houses of the Holy, Presence, In Through the Out Door, The Song Remains the Same, How the West Was Won, and The BBC Sessions. I also bought the 1994 Page & Plant Unledded album {I prefer that version of Kashmir, Gallows Pole and Four Sticks}.

When I finally got a computer with a CD burner last year, I made my own compilations ~ all in chronological order, including the live tracks.

They most certainly are and always will be one of my {equally} top 3 bands.

I was around back then, too. For me and my friends, Led Zeppelin was just another great band. There were so many styles, such a range of music, and we were absorbing it all. But, Iron Butterfly beat them to the sound that they expanded on. We also heard it from 10 Years After, some of Amboy Dukes, Vanilla Fudge, and most of Steppenwolf. So, it wasn't as if~WOW!~they hit all of a sudden. We took them in stride along with everyone else.

Yes, they're a great group but definitely not the greatest of all time. They had staying power, too. I think Robert Plant influenced a lot of singers, and they did instill the lengthy solos pattern because they didn't have enough material to fill a set. After Led Zep, heavier groups each did the take-a-turn solo bit.

I was 15? I heard them and didn't think they were absolutely amazing. In fact, I thought their music was a little boring. But I was starting to explore other great bands cause I heard so many people say that the bands were great. So I started expanding on the bands that I would listen to and I decided to listen to Led Zeppelin again later and I realized, ****, these guys can play. I listened to Dazed and Confused and I felt like I wasn't even here on earth, I was in some other universe, surrounded by some amazing sound. I later started listening to Black Sabbath and I was/still am hooked. I was on some ADD medications at the time that really messed me up, I know you're thinking, ADD meds? What's so bad about those? But the ones like Ritalin are basically legalized amphetamines. It's almost like a legal form of cocaine. So I was all paranoid and stressed on a higher dose of Ritalin than I really should have been on and I heard Snowblind by Black Sabbath. It's basically about losing your mind to amphetamines/cocaine. That song hit me hard and Black Sabbath immediately became my favorite band, followed closely by Led Zeppelin. But without Led I wouldn't have started listening to all the amazing bands out there.

My first Zep was Stairway to heaven, the intro was playing and I was mesmerized, it just caught me in a daze. Then my sister said "this is sooooo boring" and she turned it off. A week later, I had my friend make me a mixed cd of it and was once again mesmerized. I think I was 11 at the time, or 12... don't remember.

1969, Led Zepplin came out.....Heard Dazed and Confused, became dazed and confused...thought to myself that this was fresh, new, innovative, can't wait to see where these fellas were gonna go from there. Saw them live in 70 and knew they would be great. I'm still dazed and confused.

Zepp are one of those bands I got into FAST. I'd already known the big songs, but didn't know the deeper tracks til a buddy gave me his old tapes. (TAPES!) :)

I remember being blown away by 'Kashmir' but that was before I even really knew them.
