Oh yeah! It is sometimes so creaky that it makes me wonder if someone is in our attic crawl-space with a hammer! :) Seriously, though, when I'm home alone sometimes it's creepy. My husband tells me that it is just the house "settling." I'm not sure what's creepier - someone with a hammer, or my house moving on it's own! :)

Oh, yeah and the house I live in now is not old enough to be haunted... I'm the original occupant and no one has ever died here or anything. Sometimes when I'm downstairs I could SWEAR there's someone upstairs walking around and dropping things. I grew up in an OLD house that made similar noises and it scared me to death. Now I just figure houses make unexplainable sounds and I just blow it off. The older you get and the more comfortable you are with your place in the cycle of birth, life, death, eternity, the less things like the supernatural spook you. We all live on many planes of existence and you're just hearing the coming and going of it all. It won't hurt you. Just live and let live... or whatever it's doing.

Yes, when the house settles it creeks ! When the old plumbing burps or rattles or vibrates there is a symptom of something wrong. A water supply line that blows off a water valve under a sink or toilet makes a lot of noise. Heater / AC fans make noise. AC condensors make noise. Sure houses make all kinds of noises that give them their character.

We live in a duplex. The walls tend to tell their kids to be quiet and go to bed. In all seriousness, there is nothing creepier to me than staying in a new or unfamiliar place before the "noises" are figured out. The refrigerator usually talks the air ducts, the air conditioner coming on and off tends to make a suction on the door and will close it or rattle it if it is closed. If you have an imagination it could get away with you! =)

I get a weird noise like a ball bouncing on a hardwood floor. Only when I'm outside on the deck though. I thought it was my imagination but I've had several other people hear it. No idea as to what it may be. It is coming from inside but you only hear it outside.

My house was build in the early 50's, so we have lots of creaking noises. Plus noise when water is running. Pipes creak, a couple of the stairs sqeek. Plaster cracking. A/c on/off, fridge running.

Yes, I live in a historical house & it is always screeching & cracking making noises day & night!! It might have to do with the fact that 2 tombstones were holding up the foundation!!~~
