Open ended questions are unanswerable. I think you know that. The "it" in your query must be identified, or all answers that attempt it are false.

Dear map_n_az,

Will it ever happen? What will ever happen? A very fascinating question. What you have posed here deals with issues relating to Freedom and Destiny, and Aristotle's idea of Potentiality and Actuality.

Aristotle once stated that all Human Beings are like blank slates. Being a blank slate means that one is actually in a state of Potentiality, whereby you are still in the beginning stages; more like a seed. The concept of a marble statue is actually quite relevant here, because marble itself is still in its uncut form, or like a diamond in the rough. It is thus up to the sculptor to devise an idea or concept of what s/he wants, so that the end product is visibly seen.

This led Aristotle to come up with 4 causes that would lead to its end result, namely:

1. Material cause, or the elements out of which an object is created;
2. Efficient cause, or the means by which it is created;
3. Formal cause, or the expression of what it is;
4. Final cause, or the end for which it is.

The first one deals with the marble in its unadultered form. The second one talks about the the processes involved in the formation of the marble statue, like chisel, hammer, etc. The third one deals with the ideas necessary to come up with the finished product.
The fourth one deals with the end product; Aristotle says that the third and fourth cause are equally the same.

Now what about Freedom and Destiny? Being the fact that one is a blank slate, it allows one to freely chart your own future. This means that events only occur only when you do it. This concept is very relevant to Schrondinger's Cat and Werner Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle in Quantum Physics, and the paradox of a tree falling in a forest. Do you hear a tree falling in a forest? Simply put, Freedom is actually a state of Potentiality which involves probability, chance and luck. When you do something, you are actually trying to formulate your blank slate into something more pronouceable, like how an Oak Seed grows into an Oak Tree. Freedom or Free Will is thus not an illusion; it is actually real. Freedom only becomes an illusion when you do not do anything to make something real, like day dreaming. The idea of Freedom also deals with abstract and creative thoughts, meaning that daydreamers usually are more gifted in terms of the Arts and Aesthetic areas. So fashionistas, artists, poets, dramatists, etc. are usually expressive and always live for change.

What about Destiny then? Destiny is something that Newtonian physics can determine, thus the idea of Determinism, whereby there is no free will and that everything is caused by something else, and the concept of a Divine Entity or God for Monotheistic believers. The issue of Destiny has been hotly debated, and it still is. Destiny is also present in our genes, or Geneticism as I would call it, and its concept is clearly illustrated in Gundam Seed Destiny. Destiny brings about with it fate, and that you can never run away from God's true plan, if you believe in God that is. All Holy Scriptures sent down from God actually deals with the idea that one should not taint oneself with unclean things not sanctified by God, so that the purity of your blank slate or innocence is maintained, allowing oneself eternal bliss in the Eden of God, or the Paradise of Heaven.

Speaking of which, I believe it is also prudent that I mention Prophet Joseph and his miraculous gift of determining the future by his ability to interpret dreams. From what I recall corectly, dreams are actually complex in terms of abstractions. It is said that dreams can actually determine one's future, because our brain is said to be more active during our Rapid Eye movement (REM) state, allowing the brain to process all our information in the physical world. The research of sleep and its properties are still under scrutiny.

This is what I think so far, and I hope this explains your question. You are free to believe whatever you want to believe. Of course, your destiny is never proven until you do something. Whatever it is, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Have a great time~! : )

Best wishes,
(:( TuBaT ):)

If you keep wondering, it could happen, or it could not, and you would never notice

What you have to do is MAKE it happen because you're making it happen for yourself or someone you care, so it's in YOUR hands and YOUR strength to go make what you keep wondering will happen

Don't wonder. Go work it.
