The baby will come nine months after conception, but since we can't always know the date of conception doctors go by your LMP. If you count up all the weeks in nine months, it is actually shorter than 40 weeks (The medical gestation period.) The extra weeks are there to give a grace period between actual conception and your LMP. I hope that helps.

confident, they bypass via the assumption date, even though it quite is quite no longer waiting to generate an surely date for you, it merely tells you the way previous the fetus is. Your LMP tells you the way many weeks pregnant you're. So, although far alongside you're, the infant is approximately 2 weeks youthful than that. i'm 39 weeks now so my infant is 37 weeks gestational age. because of fact we are all biologically pregnant as quickly as we end our final sessions, and then our physique is merely waiting for the sperm to fertilize the egg and that for the time of lots of situations occurs approximately 2 weeks after our LMP's. yet, additionally sperm can stay interior us for as much as 5 days, so in case you have intercourse on the 20 th, you will possibly properly be fertilized the two that day or as much as 5 days after to the twenty 5th. and then it could take in to ten extra days for the fertilized egg to implant itself interior the uterus. So, that is why the week ingredient could be off. stable success.

the 40 weeks due date is based on your last period. However, since many obs are wising up to the fact that not all women have a 28 day cycle & ovulate on day 14, some will ask when you ovulated and count forward 38 weeks instead.

This will give you a more accurate due date since you can't get pregnant until you ovulate any way, but if you have a 26-30 day cycle, the dates won't be much different.

Well, its really only about a 2 week difference. Due dates are kind of a guess anyhow. I was due Oct 6th, and didn't come until the 13th. Due dates are just a basic framework to try to track the changes as they happen.
