It all depends on how you see time. Imagine being born as a slave during the time of the Romans when they were made to fight till death for entertainment, if you are a man, or imagine being the wife of such a slave, who was taken along with you from your place of abode?

Imagine being a woman or the eunuch in the harem of the king of the area.

It all depends on how you see time and place. If you compare your time and space to a specific and especial time and space, you may be right. There are always some places and some times better than the other to be born into. If you were born as a prince or princess in the palace of a king, that would be great at almost any time, unless you can not sleep at night, fearing someone will come kill you and your family, so they can take the rulership from your family.

But, in general I understand what you are saying. At the same time you can create your own reality. Even during hardships there are opportunities to do things that are impossible to be done during regular times.

If you were living in the neighborhoods where the fire in California is driving people out, and may be one loses one's house, but is able to save a life of someone else, an older person or a young child or several people. Although one lost their home, they can always build it. But saving the life of someone is a long term deal, where many lives may result from that one child you saved.

So, it all depends on who you look at things.

Yet, I understand what you are saying..lol. If you were born as as a black person in the South in the fifties, you would not be better off, but if you were born white in the fifties in the South you would be fine, as long as you were not born during the civil war or were not born in a red neck family that is dreading the coming liberalism and freedoms for blacks.

Lastly, even if the Judgment Day happens during our life time, it is true that millions will die together, but each death is individual in any case. When we die, and die we shall, that shall be our day of Judgment as everything around us will exist, yet die for us.

So, enjoy life while you can. Find the best you can and do not think of the negatives, which taint the few positives we usually have in life.

I hope this makes sense and gives you some solace for being born at a time when you can visit almost any part of the globe, have a refrigerator, a warm home, running water, cell phones, tvs, computers and everything that our ancestors did not have for centuries.

Everytime is the best time to be born. Better than not being born!! What do you think now? lol

I've often thought that I'd like to have been born in 1810 to 1817 period. I'd like to have seen the Rockies when beaver was ripe for the taking and the country was untouched by white men.

But, then I think a little and realize I'd never have survived past about 11 years of age... I had cancer at age ten and was really blessed to have survived in the '50s.

When you get to thinking that you were born in the wrong century just consider some of the sicknesses and accidents you have had and you will usually decide that it might not be such a good idea after all.

As someone else said earlier God's timing is perfect.

Sometimes I think I was either born a few years too early, or an entire generation too late :-) If I'd been born a few years later, I'd have seen female doctors routinely (I never even met one until I was nearly 27 years old), and probably have become one. If I'd been born a generation earlier, I'd have wanted to live in a rural setting. I was born in 1955 - baby boomer extrodinaire!

Maybe in my next life, no? ;-)

Yes, sometimes I wish I were born at a different time anyway. I've always been fascinated by the Old West, in the days of cowboys. I would have loved to have lived on a horse ranch.

I did when I was younger.... all I was sure about was that I didn't belong in the 'then and there'.... I should have been one of the pioneer settlers that went West.... my folks thought it strange that I could ride a horse from day one, shoot a gun like a man, handle animals with care, grow food plants with ease and make a fire before I learned how.... my granny was with me the first time I wore a floor length dress to a concert.. she saw me going up the steps and saw how I 'gathered my skirts' to do so.. she remarked that she'd seen HER grandma do it the same way...it just felt natural to me....... so, I always kinda thought that maybe I really had been living in the pioneer times....... but I was also a rebel, so if I WAS a pioneer woman, I'd have been in trouble much of the time.....*smile*..................

Yes. Sometimes I feel I should have been born in the 60's-70's so i could grow up in the 80's when gas cost less and have fun on a bong.

In a way. If I could have been born in 1990 instead of 1944 I could be up to date with all of this technology. On the other hand I would hate to think that I might be one of these airheads that don't study, learn anything, and do drugs and alcohol.

I used to wish I'd been born in a more simple time (like medieval), when I could just live on a farm somewhere... but chances are, I wouldn't have lived that long.

I'm happy to be born into an age when I am empowered to live as simply or as complexly as I choose.

I just love that song by Sandi Thom, "I wish I was a punk rocker".... It makes me cry every time. :-)

P.S. I was born in 1978.

Actually, sometimes I do. Sometimes I feel I have such a strong connection to the 30s and 40s that I think I should have been born then.

Yeah, I am totally fascinated by the 30's and 40's. Flappers were very cute and the music was awesome. Then again, if I was back there at that time, I guess I would be pushin' up daiseys right now.
Born in 1941
