I think Holden is making a point. Stars do not appear in the background of *any* photo which has relatively bright objects in its foreground. In order to expose these objects correctly, you have to set the aperture and shutter speed to levels which aren't nearly sensitive enough to pick up stars. IOW, if you took pictures of people working at night, in an area that is brightly lit, their proper exposure would make stars too faint to see by several magnitudes.
Spend some time studying this site:

You will see that it is not just one side's propaganda. It really is factual. And it shows these conspiracy nuts for what they really are.
Sorry, roofinrobert, as much as I wish that were true, it isn't. There is no telescope which can pick up any of the objects left on the moon. Not even Hubble. However we did leave mirrors on the moon and astronomers have been bouncing laser beams off of them and measuring distances with them since the 70's.

You know something?
There's a Y!A archive for people who ask such questions as yours...
This question has been asked every day, a thousand times a day, for the last several months!
Do us all a fovor, please?
Read the stuff Yahoo places before your eyes... it's there for a reason!
This question has been dealt with SO MANY TIMES now, that people who regularly answer questions such as this are growing weary of even giving it a second thought anymore.
Read a book.
Watch videos.
Read a hell of a lot more books.
Do your own research and decide for yourself.
Do you think the moon landings were faked?
I pity you and your little world if you do...

If you look at pictures taken of the moon from here, they don't show stars in the background either. So the moon is fake too?
The brightness of the object in the foreground washes out the stars in the immediate background.

The landings were real. There are plenty of idiots, like Holden, that make idiotic claims but that is because they choose to listen to other idiots instead of actually doing some research and think for themselves. Take a look at this picture, for instance, and think about what you see. Like the stars...

Holden's an idiot. I'll agree that the moon landing was probably fake, but the ISS picture is a computer model. Of course there are no stars.

Since you give no reasons to ask, I'll simply answer your question. It was real.

There were no stars in the backgound. It is as fake as the ISS. There are no stars in the background there either.

if you use a very powerful telescope you can see the landing sites for yourself and can barely see the other half of the lunar module.
